ASIN Suppressed for Alleged HTML/JavaScript – Never an Issue in 6+ Years
Hello, We’re experiencing a sudden issue with one of our top-performing ASINs, which has been Search Suppressed with the following error:
“Remove any non-compliant mark-up from attribute [item_description] to ensure your data meets Amazon's guidelines: Don’t use HTML, JavaScript, or other types of code in your product detail pages.”
This ASIN has been active for over 6 years without any issues, and there has never been HTML, JavaScript, or any non-compliant code in the item description. We have not made any changes to the listing prior to this suppression.
To address this, we carefully reviewed the item description to confirm it is clean and compliant, saved updates as a precaution, and waited more than 48 hours for the system to refresh. Despite these efforts, the suppression alert remains, and the listing is still inactive.
This is the first time we’ve encountered this issue, and it is now significantly impacting our sales during a critical period.
Has anyone else faced a similar situation where a long-standing ASIN was suddenly flagged for non-existent HTML/JavaScript? How can we identify what the system is flagging so we can resolve this quickly?
We would greatly appreciate any guidance or support, as this suppression feels like a system error and has caught us completely off guard.

Hi there @Seller_dTGQsVwjYcNVz,
I'm sorry you have been having issues with your ASIN being identified as non-compliant and suppressed. I'd like to review to see what I can from my end on what might have caused this issue. Can you please provide your most recent Seller Support Case? Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your response and willingness to assist, @Glenn_Amazon.
We have been tirelessly working to resolve the suppression issue for this ASIN for several weeks now, but we keep getting kicked around between support teams without any clear direction or resolution. Case Id's: 17022925431, 16934060151 & 16837877891.
To summarize our efforts so far:
- A+ Content Review: We completely deleted and rebuilt the A+ content using a blank template to ensure no non-compliant elements were present.
- Product Description Updates: The description has been updated multiple times per support instructions, ensuring compliance with all Amazon guidelines.
- Browse Node Attribute: We have confirmed with Seller Support that the browse node attribute has been updated, yet the suppression persists.
- Brand Support Communication: Despite multiple cases with Brand Support, including reassurances that issues have been "fixed," the ASIN remains search suppressed with no actionable or consistent feedback provided.
Currently, clicking on the suppression notification does not even display a specific reason, leaving us without clarity on what additional steps are required to resolve this.
This unresolved issue is causing significant disruptions to our business. We need direct and specific guidance on what else needs to be done or for Amazon to intervene directly to resolve the suppression on their end.
If you could escalate this matter further or provide additional resources, we would greatly appreciate your support. Please let us know what further information is needed to assist in resolving this matter promptly.
Thank you again for your assistance.

Hello @Seller_dTGQsVwjYcNVzwe have been facing similar issues. Following your thread to see if one of us finds a solution.
We hope that Amazon can help us find a viable solution soon. The sentiment we get from the interactions with seller support are that they don't actually know what we need to do, and they are guessing at this point.

Hi @Glenn_Amazon@Seller_dTGQsVwjYcNVz@Seller_D31E6h9kD6xq7
Has anyone made any progress with this issue? We have several ASIN and have been given the run around by amazon since mid-December. We have also tried all the steps @Seller_dTGQsVwjYcNVztried.
I believe it is something to do with historic A+ or amazon retail A+ content though as it is item_description field, rather than product_description.
Thanks,
Liz

Hi there @Seller_dTGQsVwjYcNVz,
I've reviewed your cases and at this time the Seller Support team was able to work to appeal this ASIN and the ASIN is no longer search suppressed? If you are still having supression will you show me where? When I search for the ASIN is shows in the search results correctly.
Thank you for your understanding.
@Seller_D31E6h9kD6xq7 and @Seller_3mYK5lS04N53i,
I would recommend that you create you own threads with your case IDs as the ASINs may have their own unique issues. Thank you.
