Question: Why is my product variation not eligible for the Vine program?
I launched a new color variation of an established product in June 2024 and sold a few hundred units, but it has only received 1 review so far. When I try to enroll it in the Vine program, I get the following message:
"Too many reviews - 405. This product is ineligible because it has too many reviews. See About Amazon Vine for detailed eligibility criteria."
I don’t think this is category-specific problem because a competitor in the same category, with thousands of reviews on their main product, is getting Vine reviews for their new color variations.
Why would my variation be flagged as having too many reviews?
How can I resolve this?

Looking at the help pages, I think I can explain what's happening.
According to the page about variation relationships (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G201951410), products in a variation family share reviews among themselves when they share the same brand, category, and other key attributes. This explains why you're seeing 405 reviews - your new color variation is inheriting the reviews from the parent listing.
The Vine eligibility criteria (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G92T8UV339NZ98TN) states that products must have fewer than 30 reviews to be eligible. Since your variations share reviews, the system sees your new color variation as having too many reviews.
Your competitor might be using a different variation structure that doesn't share reviews, but that's just speculation on my part.
