A return not in original state

Today we have revied an air fryer as a returned item (FBA).

To say that its not in its original state is an understatemet.

1. Not its original box (In a french fries box)

2. The drawrs a full of grease. The customer hasnt even bothered to clean it before returning it.

3. Becuase they havent used the original packaging to return it, its subsequently been damaged.

I have relayed all this back to Amazon. But surely they would have checked all this before returning the item back to me and refunding the customer.

Please see the pictures

You would think that they would, but no chance, we have received loads of items returned from FBA opened and damaged, even one woman who bought a brand new sealed double duvet and returned a single which she had been using for the dogs bed by the smell and state it was in and they still sent it back to me telling me that it was unsellable, and it took loads of cases and phone calls before I finally got them to refund me. Which is why I am pulling out of FBA because the returns are just not worth it.

You can file a safe-t claim and its usually reimbursed. Hope this helps

Can we get some info from an Amazon mod in here, as I've had numerous instances of "Customer Damaged" and repeatedly just get template replies back refusing reimbursement.

Unfortunately Amazon do not care about the sellers and the upset you have to deal with

This is so frustrating to us as sellers and Amazon do not seem to care, I have had 3 returns similar to yours recently for 3 items valued at £55 which I can no longer sell on! How Amazon can accept that return and refund the customer is appalling. As others have said I would file a SAFE-T and see if you get anywhere.

After watching many of the YouTube uploads of people unpacking the pallet loads of Amazon returns, they have purchased by the pallet load to sell on, nothing suprises me. It doesn't seem unusual for people to return soiled baby and adult nappies, puppy training mats and cat litter trays with the manure still in situ often in a completely different box and as a completely different return. I think, if I was checking the returns, I would have given up opening them after the first lot of manure!

Hello @Seller_F6YsbIJroEPKE,

Here Simon from Amazon, happy to try and help.

I had to delete 2 of the pictures you attached as they included personal information.

Have you tried to file a SAFE T (edited after review) claim for this issue?

Would you mind providing the Order ID?

Best,

Simon

It's a shame you haven't put a UV marker on the goods you sell - this looks like a thoroughly used air-fryer that the customer has damaged and worked out that they could buy from you an identical model and return the damaged one - I might be wrong :-/

In any case - I sell car books - I get returns in a atrocious state with folded pages, oily fingerprints etc - with the customer claiming 'wrong book for my model' or 'not suitable' - I raise it with Amazon and, to-date, I have not had Amazon on my side one single time :(

Good luck with this - at least my books are mostly sub £30 - the odd loss is bad, but it won't cripple my business.

Any chance you can claim off the courier used for the return?

@Julia_Amazon (as Simon no longer shows up!)

As far as I am aware the only way you can claim is if the Buyer damage is ignored, BUT you can claim for return transit damage by Amazon when they sent back to you, as not packed well, it looks like it was broken, plastic smashed etc.

Ignore the Buyer not cleaning it, as we were told before, it is the fun of selling on Amazon, you cannot claim anything for Buyer damage on Fba (but you can if you did SFP instead)

AMAZON SHOW:

Note: Amazon does not accept responsibility or reimburse for returned items that are damaged by a customer, subject to recall, are defective or in violation of Amazon policies, or other similar reasons. We add these items to your unfulfillable inventory when they are returned.

Note: Amazon does not reimburse for customer returns with the following conditions: Damaged box or packaging, missing factory seal, missing packaging, tape or shipping label over box, different box and so on.

ABOVE from Simons post on here: Since this is an FBA order, a claim should be filed as per the instructions in FBA customer return claims or use the Get Help section in Seller Central.
