Confused new seller

HELP.
As a private seller can I adjust my uk shipping retes.
Most of my items are between £5.00-£10.00…but postage costs are fixed at £4.11 per item which means I do not get multiple sales of the same item.
Is this to make me competitive with other sellers, or to stop me undercutting them ?

You can upgrade to a paid subscription at £30/month, even as a private seller. Then you can adjust postage rates.

It’s about your selling plan, not your seller status, to set your own postage rates you need to be on the professional selling plan, paying the monthly fee, only beneficial if selling over 34ish item per month, but don’t then get charged the per item fee on each sale.

No, you cannot unless you are a pro-seller.
The shipping rates depend on the selling category. They used to be fixed for everyone but this changed a quite while back.
If you want to set your own shipping rates you need to upgrade to being a pro-seller.

If you are selling used items you can put a note to that effect in your notes on the individual product eg ‘A reduction in postage rates will be made for the purchase of two or more products. Please contact the seller for details.’ But if the items are new I don’t think you can write anything for the customer to see.

You could think about creating bundles if appropriate to your product? Sell bundles of 2,3,4,5 etc. for a single shipping price.

Hi there

I am a small seller like you no shop. I put a note in the description about postage costs set by Amazon and I will refund the difference once dispatched. I often get an enquiry about postage costs for example if people order 10 items (happens occasionally) the postage is in the region of £50!!! Of course it doesn’t cost that.

I ALWAYS refund even on single orders if postage/courier cheaper than amazon charge. No idea how this affects my costs with Amazon but I prefer excellent customer service instead:))
