Red Flag, New Shipping Settings

Woke to this today: -

The new Shipping Settings are now available for your account. The deadline to migrate your account before it is automatically migrated is approaching. Click here to learn more and start your migration. Click here to learn more and start your migration.

I don’t want any of this to change, do I need to do anything?

I got it too and am already migrated. I suspect Amazon’s automated system has sent it out by mistake. They have a habit of doing this.

They are getting rid of Expedited Shipping. There will be two shipping options going forward. STANDARD and PREMIUM. To be able to offer PREMIUM shipping the item needs to be set with tracking.

Email I received from Amazon this morning 04/02/19.

'Dear Seller,

As part of our effort to continuously improve customer experience on Amazon, we are streamlining the shipping options available for on seller-fulfilled items. Currently, we have three ship options: Standard Shipping, Expedited Shipping and Premium Shipping. The transit times for these options frequently overlap, causing customer confusion so we are streamlining our ship options down to two: Standard Shipping and Premium Shipping.

We will remove Expedited Shipping and replace it with either Premium Shipping or Standard Shipping options. Starting 2019/03/04, you will not be able to add or make changes to Expedited Shipping in your shipping templates. Starting 2019/03/21, if you offer Expedited Shipping to domestic Customers with a transit time of 2 days or less, we will automatically replace Expedited Shipping with Premium Shipping in your shipping template. We will maintain the same transit time and shipping rate as set by you for Expedited shipping. If you do not meet the requirements for Premium Shipping, your offers will show only Standard shipping to Customers.

Expedited and Premium Shipping have different requirements, including the fact that Premium Shipping requires enabling tracking for all orders.

This change does not require action on your part, but we encourage you to review your ship options and ensure they reflect the best shipping options you are able to offer Customers.

You can check your Shipping Settings here and your Premium Shipping Eligibility here.

If you do not want to offer Premium Shipping, you can disable Premium Shipping from your shipping templates.

Thank you for selling on Amazon.’

I don’t have expedited shipping. I have standard (for me this is 2nd class) and what is called Express (1st class) on my listings.
I assume this express will become the new premium shipping and therefore require tracking.
I do not offer tracking so have just now deleted my express option, only leaving standard shipping.
Think this will be okay come 21st March.

We have a handling time of 2 days and offer expedited delivery with a transit time of 1 – 2 days.

We also offer (on select items) premium 2 day shipping.

With regards to premium 2 day shipping, same day shipment is forced upon the seller (regardless of lead time) if the customer orders before 2pm and next day if ordered after this time.

Do we take this announcement to mean that expedited shipping in our case would simply be converted to straight 2 day premium shipping i.e. without the breathing space of a 2 day handling time?

If so, it would appear to be rather counterproductive as the number of marketplace items with a fast shipping option will plummet. With the strict metrics on premium shipping it only takes a courier mess up or OOS error for you to lose eligibility at the drop of a hat.

What would be classes as ‘Premium’? Signed for? or fully tracked?

So is this premium/expediated/express whatever they’re going to call it going to be compulsory or can we just carry on as we are?
