A question regarding delivery scans please if you can help with this one.
Hi All
Can someone answer this. Yet again I have just received a message from a buyer of a book on 29th September, shipped 30th Sept & delivered by 4th Oct. It's a 2nd class standard parcel. When I look on Amazon next to the TRACKING ID there is just a - (Dash line) which I assume means it would not have been scanned by RM. If that is the case then would that trigger a "It looks like your order might be lost" email"? prompting the buyer to try their luck.
I don't know if everyone knows this but if you reprint the click & drop label on Amazon buy shipping their is a series of numbers & letters above the QR code. If you put that number into RM track & trace then you can get lucky (or at least until Scamazon side with them anyway & tell us it don't affect our metrics, stopping short of admitting that they know the buyer got the item but we will refund them anyway)
I ran the number for this one & sure enough it was delivered on Thursday 3rd October with a GPS drop pin location at the buyers address. Amazon only allow reprinting of the label for 30 days so if someone tries it on beyond 30 days you can't prove it.
Anyway if I am right in my opening question, does anyone know why it ends up with a GPS drop pin location, a date & even a time of delivery if it never got a scan?
Regards
Ed

So whilst waiting for reply from any potential sellers with this knowledge I can in the meantime say that within 30 minutes of sending the buyer proof of delivery, the buyer messaged back to say that someone else in the house had put it in a cupboard & forgot to tell them, REALLY!
I asked Bing AI what happens to buyers that say an item is INR & then say they have found it when presented with proof. The response was "When an Amazon buyer claims that an item did not arrive but later finds it after being presented with proof from the seller, the situation typically resolves without further issues.
So if I go to Tesco & steal a joint of meat & the police come round can I say someone put it in my freezer & forgot to tell me? I don't think so
THEFT IS THEFT & IT'S HIGH TIME AMAZON TOOK NOTICE!

Hello GENERATIONS_GONE_BY1,
As far as I know Amazon do not record a Tracking Number for an item sent by Royal Mail unless it is a Signed-For service and so shows a "-" in its place.
The Tracking Number is shown, as you say, on the label and, if you use a Post Office, on their Proof of Postage.
So the item in question was (probably) scanned by the postie on delivery (as they're expected to do) which is why the full tracking shows up on the R. M. site
Hope this helps

As this only seems to happen with Amazon orders I've started recording the 2D tracking number in the Seller Notes box.

For the tracking to be logged with amazon you need to send RM48 or 24, 2nd or first class does not count, I send all my LL RM48 and tracking gets uploaded.
