New Seller Account Verification Failed for no reason

This is for another seller, since the verification failed, he is not allowed to post a discussion.

I’m a new seller trying to get started on Amazon, and I’ve hit a roadblock that I’m hoping to get some advice on. Here’s what happened:

I’m based in the U.S. but hold a Chinese passport. When I began creating my seller account, I uploaded the necessary documents, including my passport and bank statement, and completed the identity verification process (which involved taking a photo of my passport and a selfie). Unfortunately, I received the following email from Amazon:

"We have reviewed the documents that you provided but were unable to complete the identity verification process for your seller account. As a result:

If you are registering as a new seller, your case will be closed and your account will not be activated.

If you are an existing seller who has already been selling on Amazon, your seller account will not be immediately impacted."

I contacted Seller Support, but they couldn’t provide any specific information about why my verification failed. They advised me to restart the application process using a different email address, phone number, and bank account. This feels extreme, especially since I have no idea what caused the issue in the first place. What if it fails again?

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m particularly concerned about having to go through the entire process again without understanding what went wrong. Is there any way to get more details from the verification team or any Community Manager escalate this issue?
