What does it really mean when

What does it really mean when you get an email from Amazon like this, pre-shipping:

“Your e-mail(s) to - name - (buyer address @marketplace.amazon.co.uk) cannot be delivered because there was a problem with the recipient’s email system. The recipient can still view the message in their message centre on Amazon.co.uk, but they will not receive it by e-mail. We apologise for the inconvenience”.

Does it mean the buyer really doesn’t receive it in his/her letter box?

If I try later, any chance at all they get it then?

Any way to get through to them, if we have an important pre-shipping question?

Phone them, it’s permitted as it relates specifically to fulfillment of their order…

You need to contact SS and get them to contact CS and request a customer contact call for their email address to be updated. It’s actually against the buyer participation agreement not to have valid contact details, for precisely the reason you’ve experienced.
We had to do this in the past, you’re not alone.

It means the buyer has opted out of receiving messages via the Amazon email system. Probably by default, without their knowledge. Personally if I bought something and there was an issue with my order I’d appreciate a phone call from the seller, I’d see it as common sense and good customer service, but that’s just me, it’s your call.

Thanks everyone.

BTW what happened to this ting when we had to add the word “Important” in the subject line, to override their opting out?
Is that still on?

If the buyer has provided a mobile then perhaps text them as this is less intrusive than calling?
