Amazon pay question

I have a dormant Ltd company so registered as a sole trader. I have been asked to verify my business and despite explaining many times that my business is dormant, nothing seems to be happening.

I have been a sole trader for over a year and verification was fine when i first registered. For some unknown reason I have to re-verify but they won’t accept I am a sole trader.

What can I do? This has been going on for over a month now

I’m a little confused. You say you have a dormant limited company but registered as a sole trader. So, whilst the limited company might be dormant, the business is not dormant but is active, yes? This will undoubtedbly be the source of confusion. Are the names of the limited company and the sole trader the same or similar, eg did you change from Joe Smith Ltd to just Joe Smith?

Sorry for the confusion.

I am registered with Companies House as a Ltd to protect my brand name.

I do not trade as a Ltd company which is dormant, but as a sole trader. I have always traded as a sole trader with Amazon Pay and my situation has not changed since I was originally verified over a year ago.

My business name is the same but as a sole trader I don’t use the Ltd in the name.

I have sent Amazon my dormant accounts

I don’t trade as a Ltd company. I never have. The Ltd company is dormant.

What is a Dormant Company?

    1. To set up a company you intend to use in the future
    1. To protect your interests and reputation as a sole trader
    1. To hold a fixed asset such as a property
    1. Take a break from trading
    1. When a company is being wound up

Does anyone have an answer to my actual question?

what have they actually said to you?

They said I have wrongly registered as a ‘sole trader’ and I should change to a ‘business’. But as I can’t provide evidence of being a business, only a sole trader, I don’t know what else I can say to them.

You can be a director of a ltd company and still be a sole trader of another company but it will need different bank accounts etc. You may find it easier if you change the name of the sole trader company which looks like is confusing things.

Indeed I have no idea if this bot or human but yes it’s very frustrating.

I don’t have a business bank account, only personal which is my name.

I have my seller account (which is linked to my buying account).
I have an Amazon Pay account for my brand, Shui Me.
I have an Amazon Pay account for Wellbeing Bristol.

I use AP on 2 different domains so need 2 accounts. My Shui Me brand is not a business or registered with HMRC. It falls under my business name Wellbeing Bristol.

The Ltd thing is just a guess on my part as I can see no other reason why they would want me to change from sole proprietor. I honestly don’t know if they check with Companies House but if a human is checking, it may be part of their internal process.

So this still leaves my original question in need of an answer/solution.

I’m thinking I may just have to send an email to Jeff? lol
