DG Storage Limit

First, my essential oils inventory was reclassified as a hazardous material, and then my allowable limit for flammable storage was reduced. As a result, I can no longer send inventory to FBA.

To my knowledge, there are currently no restrictions on essential oils in retail packaging. However, hazmat regulations do apply to certain essential oils if they are shipped in bulk quantities exceeding 500 kg.

Check the MSDS sheet for the product for storage and transport restrictions. If there aren't any, then upload the document to Amazon for them to reclassify it.

Hey @Seller_q19IEWXCmwL4Vand @Seller_7LrAV0m5llaI7, what a nice interaction you had! Thank you both for the detailed discussion regarding the classification issue with the essential oils inventory. It's helpful to have the context and understand the steps taken so far.

@Seller_7LrAV0m5llaI7, your suggestion to upload the SDS through the compliance dashboard on Seller Central is a sound next step. Submitting the official documentation directly to Amazon is likely the best way to get their team to review and potentially reclassify the product correctly.

@Seller_q19IEWXCmwL4V, it seems you have already taken the right approach by reviewing the SDS for the product, which indicates it is "Not Regulated" and does not have specific storage requirements. If you have not already done so, I would encourage you to follow JPart2's guidance and upload the SDS as soon as possible. Providing that clear evidence from the manufacturer should strengthen your case for having the classification updated.

If after submitting the SDS you continue to face challenges or lack of resolution from Amazon, please feel free to reach out again. We would be happy to further assist in escalating the matter or exploring additional options.

I am the manufacturer of my own products. As the manufacturer, I can confirm that my products are not hazardous materials (dangerous goods). I have already submitted multiple versions of the MSDS, but the Amazon Compliance team still believes my products are dangerous goods. I have contacted Seller Support numerous times, but unfortunately, they are not well-trained enough to understand my issue.

Since Amazon converted all essential oils inventory to "flammable," why don't they increase my storage limit? Instead, they lowered it to 1.25 cubic meters. Now, I can't send any inventory, even though the Restock Inventory tool is recommending that I send stock as soon as possible.

That’s how you can drive even the most patient person over the edge!

Hey @Seller_q19IEWXCmwL4V, thank you for sharing those case IDs and raising your concerns regarding the DG Storage Limit and Hazmat classification issues. After carefully reviewing the cases and consulting with the relevant teams handling these matters, I want to provide some clarity.

  • Regarding the DG Storage Limit: Amazon is currently facing capacity constraints in their fulfillment centers. As a result, they are unable to accommodate requests for capacity increases for dangerous goods storage until these constraints are resolved. This measure is being implemented to prioritize safety and ensure the proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Concerning the Hazmat Classification: The team responsible for hazardous materials classification has thoroughly evaluated the product in question and has determined the classification to be accurate based on the applicable regulations and guidelines. Amazon takes a proactive stance in ensuring the safe handling and transportation of hazardous materials, which is reflected in their classification decisions.

While I understand this might not be the outcome you were hoping for, Amazon's primary focus is on maintaining the highest safety standards while managing capacity constraints effectively. These measures are in place to protect the well-being of customers, employees, and selling partners.

I know it can be frustrating when requests are denied, but Amazon is prioritizing safety above all else, and they are not accepting any requests for capacity increases until the constraints are resolved. The Hazmat classification decisions are also made with safety as the top priority, following established regulations and guidelines.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.
