Confusion on selling organic products on Amazon

Hi there,

I am a bit confused on the process of selling organic products on Amazon. I am intending to sell an organic product from a supplier in Sri Lanka that already has USDA; EU Organic and JAS organic certifications from the Control Union. As they are a supplier, I am selling their product under my own business name and packaging.

I was looking at the requirements for selling an organic product on amazon and it states I will need a certification that includes my business address and name in the UK. Does this mean I will not be able to use my suppliers certification as proof that the products I am selling are organic?

As I only intend to re-sell an already certified organic product from my supplier, I do not have this certification myself.

I was really hoping a seller who has been in the same position as me (or is familiar with this process) would be able to provide some guidance on what to do? Do I need to pay for a certification myself or provide evidence that I am getting my products from a supplier that has already certified these products?

Thanks in advance!

Not that I am conversant with the rules surrounding this, but going by common sense only.
If you plan relabelling a product, then I would imagine, that you will need all of the various certifications in your own name. But if you are selling it as the suppliers product, then it should be fine.
But your probably better off, clarifying with the relevant government authority.

You need to have your own organic certification from a UK or EU approved body if you intend to sell the products as organic in the UK. A lot of sellers dont have the certification but still call their products Organic however this can cause issues if Amazon or the FSA / ASA ask for your certification and its also against the law :frowning: so i wouldn’t recommended it . If you are going to do something do it properly or dont do it at all
