Setting Up a New Amazon Seller Account After Working as a VA

I am planning to start my own Amazon seller account to operate my own store. However, I have previously worked as a Virtual Assistant (VA) with secondary user access on multiple Amazon seller accounts.

Before I create my own seller account, I want to ensure that I am fully compliant with Amazon’s policies and avoid any potential linking or suspension issues between my new store and the accounts I have supported as a VA.

Can someone please guide/advise on the following:

1. Is it permitted to open a new seller account when I have previously had secondary access to other seller accounts as a VA?

2. What steps should I take to avoid my new account being linked to those I have assisted?

3. Are there any disclosures or permissions I should obtain from Amazon before proceeding?

Thank you for your assistance. I want to start my business on the right path while fully respecting Amazon’s policies.

Thank you

Hi @Seller_5IOpeiEuqqKeL

Thanks for reaching out about starting your Amazon seller journey! Love that you're being super thorough about doing things the right way - that's definitely the way to go.

Great news - you can absolutely start your own seller account, even with your VA background! But here's the deal (and it's pretty important) - we need to keep your new account totally separate from the ones you've managed before.

Here's your quick game plan to keep things clean and clear:

  • Set up fresh contact details (new email + phone number)
  • Use different devices and internet connection (same IP can cause our system to find you as related to the accounts you managed).
  • Keep all the money stuff separate (bank accounts, credit cards, etc ; avoid using any financial information you previously might have had with the accounts you managed).
  • Run your business independently (different inventory, separate operations)

Here's a heads-up though: Our system is pretty smart and does some behind-the-scenes checks to make sure everything's within policy. While having multiple accounts isn't a no-no, there are some boxes that need to be ticked.

Quick word of caution: If any of those accounts you managed before were deactivated for violating Amazon's policies, and you're connected to them somehow, it could cause some issues for your new venture.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Connor
