How to change Parent SKU

How can I change the SKU of the Parent but keep the children assigned?

Basically I have added a variation product using the Add A Product interface. But although this allows me to enter the SKU's of each individual child, it does not let me set the SKU for the parent - Amazon creates this themselves.

For example, I use SKU's such as A9999 for Parent and then A9999-M, A9999-L, A9999-XL for the children.

But after using Add A Product I have XX-XXXX-XXXX for the Parent (SKU created by Amazon) and I now want to change it to A9999. Its not a major issue its just easier when I am looking to edit the parent to find it. I do not know why Amazon do not allow me to set the Parent SKU on creation

And just to add I have found advice posted under other discussions about using the 'Add another condition' option to create a new SKU - but this option does not appear on the Parent listing only on the Child listings so cannot be used.

Hi There,

The only way to update the parent SKU is to create it via flat files or add it via upload.

But for that, you will need to delete your old parent sku and then create a new parent and add all the children to the listing.

So if you are a beginner at flat files, I dont recommend DIY, better hire a flat-file expert, if it really matters to you.
