Does Amazon know their own returns policy?
Hi I’m wondering if anyone can help me? I had a customer purchase an item on the 2nd April and I’ve had a msg today from Amazon requesting that I supply return details to the customer as she is saying it is not working.
I thought Amazon’s return policy was usually 28 days but has been extended to 90 for Xmas and pandemic, not 8 months.
Does anyone know where I stand if I don’t authorise the return as it’s outside the returns parameter by 5 months.

The return policy is for standard cancellation so depending out what you sold it will ha e a warrenty so depending on what it is it could be anything from 12 to 60 months for a new item obviously certain things are excluded and it does not necessarily need to be a return it could be a replacement.

Hi yea they did not mention the item but if it was say a new electrical item etc. The seller has the legal liability to fix/replace the item not the manufacturer as the contract is between the seller and the manufacturer unless they took out an additional warrenty of course.
Ah and there is the item lol a PlayStation @Dischead1 providing the item was sold stating used the customer should not be able to claim for faults etc… After 3 months so it is well outside I would double check the sale make sure it was sold as used and not new before challanging it

I had an FBA ‘change of mind’ return after 170 days recently. They said their CS agent had ‘made an exception’ to grant the return, but had not left any notes explaining why. No way for Seller Support to speak directly to CS either, so no way to even ask the agent about it.

However, under The Sale of Goods Act 2015, the SELLER MUST take liability - this may assist if you search: Which? and then Consumer Rights.

AMAZON expect details under Condition notes on used items, otherwise they assume like their own used items that a 12 month warranty applies (so state there if say a 6 month repair warranty).
Defend an A-Z Claim otherwise for anything after 6 months, Buyers if they win, will be funded by Amazon (just Appeal if not).

Sometimes, I have the refund message, showing order was placed in year 2017 or 2018, but return for refund due to Does not work. this is the good point of on-line shopping for those kind of customers.
