Listing Screen Change

Apologies if I have duplicated as I think I saw something about this a while ago, but my listing screen has completely changed?

Everything is in a different order. The Advanced View tab needs to be turned on to be able to enter description notes. When the condition is selected, the description notes disappear!

Another example of useless tinkering?

Here is the response I just received from SS

"As per your email, I understand that your concern is regarding the listing screen has been changed to new as the old one was better than this according to you.

I understand that you are facing problem because the new screen is completely different to the old one. I would like to inform you that there is a new system update due to which these changes have been made as it was better from the old ones. As this changes is made for every seller as it is a system update done from the system automatically, Amazon does not done it from his end so we can not fix this as it is a by default settings.

I would like to inform you that Amazon introduced you with new features and advanced features for all the seller to learn something new. If you understand the new features that will be easy to help full for you and easily you can controlling all the features functions. This changes done for you because most of the time we are doing same thing for long time we feel bored"

Mmmmm

Extremely frustrating trying to list books as unable to add a description (which i do manually for every single listing). Only way I’ve been able to rectify is list with just a price and condition. Then wait 5 mins and then go back into ‘manage inventory’ by ‘edit’ and then add in ‘product description’. Is time-consuming & time-wasting plus making me very irritated as wasting time that i could have (in the last ten minutes) listed over 20 titles where i’ve only listed one. Is this a glitch or more stupid tech updates that are unnecessary that will only decrease sales for Private Merchant (PM) and profit for Amazon themselves. I honestly think Amazon wants to throw all PMs off site forever. Anyone any insight or advice? Inside I’m screaming here…

Replying to explore-britain1:
Thanks for your reply although to no avail. That’s the way I’ve always listed items (books) but total nightmare today. Was working grand last time I listed (before the w’end). Also I’m unable to swipe to ‘advanced view’ although not sure that would help either.

Plus - what’s with all the ‘shipping templates’? I now saw at least 20 of them and none that list beyond the UK. I apologise if I’ve not been keeping up. In regards to this thread I also can’t choose if I want to offer UK only or Europe etc. Even after listing, then waiting to see in inventory, then adding in description. Two hours lost this eve with two books listed. Anyone from SELLER SUPPORT available to ADVISE?!

Not sure if this is of help or not, but on rooting through previous ‘Headlines’ on our Seller Home page there is a post:

Upgrade to the new inventory templates to list your products on Amazon
26 Apr 2018
As of June 26, 2018, Amazon will no longer accept older versions of Category Inventory Templates. Amazon has improved the product listing experience allowing you to customise your templates to list multiple products from different categories together. We recommend that you start using the new inventory template experience immediately.

To learn more about how to generate the customised template, visit the Create your inventory file template Help page: https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/gp/help/G202094740

_Additionally, Amazon will automatically upgrade templates from older versions starting May 21, 2018. _

To view the updated template:

Log in to Seller Central.
Under the “Inventory” tab, go to “Add Products via Upload”.
Select the “Monitor Upload Status” tab.
View your product information under “Download your submission in the updated template version” beside your upload status.

This only seems to have been rolled out for some Pro-Sellers (which I am) so far. And certainly a massive headache as it is certainly NOT an improvment but a mess.

When listing books on Amazon I generally use Safari so I switched to Chrome. The ‘Advanced’ option is now available.

I also noticed that if (like I do) you type in the ISBN digits on Amazon’s home page (rather than going into ‘Inventory’ and ‘Add a Product’) to see what other sellers etc are selling the title for and go to ‘Selll on Amazon’ - the opportunity to then add ‘description’ is not available.

The facility to ‘sell’ beyond the UK is also missing. Instead there are about 20 shipping templates to choose from. Mine seems to have automatically changed this evening to read as ‘Migrated Books Template’ which I have no idea what it is and if this now overrides any previous listings (as far back as 2008) that I had on offer to Europe and/or Rest of World. It only seems to be available to buyers within the UK.

I would be interested to hear if any one else going through the same motions/changes (and nothing to do with age or bodily functions).

Total nightmare as I list all items individually with descriptions; the majority of books second-hand or out-of-print that demand more details provided.

Thanks.

That is how my listing screen has been for about a year now. Pain in the rear when you have written a description out then go to the condition part and it wipes it all off.

I have been wondering if they were messing around in the background again as I noticed the feedback part on my mobile phone is all distorted. This has happened a few times last year, always coinciding with my sales tanking only for them to return once that fault has been corrected.

I have also noticed that the log in screens look different.

Hi Carol,

There is no technical issue. This is the format of the listings page. For example if you wish to add a condition note to a book that is not in a new condition then you need to turn on the advanced view.
Before entering your condition notes please select the appropriate item condition and then complete the relevant section.
To add additional information when creating a listing you will also need to enable the Advanced View.

I hope this helps,
Jessica
