How have other sellers jumped on our listings when we have Brand Registry?

I have reported today a couple of sellers who have somehow managed to jump on our listings. We are the manufacturer and we do sell through some wholesalers, but we are enrolled with Brand Registry and I have never given anyone else permission to sell our products on Amazon.

Whilst I'm waiting for a response from Amazon - I'm just curious if anyone knows how these sellers have managed it? Or is it just an Amazon hiccup?

Brand Registry doesn't prevent other people selling on the listing. It, in theory, makes it easier for you to get people selling fraudulent products off the listing, and make sure you have the highest level of control of the information and images in the listing, but Amazon supposedly operates on the system that anyone can sell anything, so long as they can provide a valid supply chain.

I believe you can 'gate' listings with transparency, but I might be wrong.

Recently had a seller listing our product on an EU marketplace.

They were trying to dropship I think, listing at an outrageous price. The brand registry system didn't stop them listing the item. An email to the seller got them to take the offer down.

I have had a listing hijacked and the seller changed the brand name.

I remember at the time when trying to relist the item the system told me I couldn't, because we weren't the brand owner.

So it looks like sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Does it not mean lots of sales and possibly, lots of profit?

I would use them, and their prices, as my price benchmarks for my listing. I sell printers and cannot imagine HP complaining about it.

Amazon has purchased lots of printers from me to sell them even cheaper, just to get me off the listing. They know that sooner than later I would run out of that product.

Think more about whether you want to manufacture more or sell more!

If you sell your products through wholesalers as long as someone buy 10 units and gets a vat receipt from the wholesaler they will be allowed to sell your brand.

Brand registry doesn’t do much at all. Only offers temporary protection. If you get too many counterfeiters then Brand Registry disables itself.

Seller support were not helpful so we ended up writing to the other sellers and they removed their listings immediately.

Our main reason for not letting anyone else sell on Amazon is that we don't want any negative reviews connected with their customer service to affect our product ratings. I know it's not supposed to but customers do get confused and leave their seller reviews as product reviews and vice-versa.
