Applying For VAT Reclaim From Amazon
Morning All
OK so having taken over the day to day responsibility of our Amazon UK account since October there was a lot that was not set up properly and now I am rectifying.
-
VAT Number Added, Approved and will be active from 31/12 didn’t want to do it mid month.
-
The ‘Product Tax Code’ for the items has been updated and is ZERO Rated (HRMC Checked / On Website All Done)
I would now like to claim back the VAT / Tax on the all the items for 2021 since Jan 21 that have been charged with VAT and was wondering what is the best way / or subject title I should be using with seller support. So this will be the VAT I assume on the Fees and not on the product correct? but am still trying to work it out
Thanks for any help

if you go to help - get more support, you can ‘request a VAT refund on Amazon Fees’
Obviously you will need to prove you were VAT registered for the dates you are requesting the refund for - so you’ll need a letter from HMRC with your VAT registration date on

If you are VAT registered then it is up to you to reclaim VAT on the invoices supplied by Amazon. Going forward Amazon will not charge VAT on service fees provided on an EC Reverse Charge basis (advertising will still have VAT charged as it is a UK service).
For a first registration I believe the maximum you will be able to recover is 6 months of service VAT charges - your accountant will be able to assist you with the details. Don’t forget to recover the VAT on any stock you have purchased and still are in possession of - you cannot reclaim VAT on stock already sold . Again - check everything with your accountant.

Hi,
I’m new to the whole selling on Amazon thing, a few questions, some may be foolish and/or in the wrong place, so apologies in advance.
- I still have a job and want to explore other avenues of income, thus selling on Amazon. Do I need to do anything further with my tax code etc?
- I’m not selling much yet (newly started) do I need to register for VAT refunds and if so is this a difficult process?
- Are there any other things i should be aware of or look out for?
Other info:
I don’t have the professional plan yet as I don’t sell enough
Thanks for any help.
