competitor selling item different from listing saying its a "variation"

We have a competitor based in Holland that is selling a similar item to us but saying its a "variation" of which there aren't any. Effectively they are selling individual bits of cutlery in a plain box (at half the price) - when the listing and the item bought from the major brand comes in a stunning case / gift box. There is even a video on the page showing the product and gift box it comes in. We have asked the question about the product to the seller and they have admitted they are selling individual bits in a plain box. How do I highlight this to amazon and make sure the customer gets the correct item on the listing!

Hi @Seller_8T2Wc3dKMPf21,

Is the cutlery offered by your competitor manufactured by the same brand and part of the same product line or collection?

If not, you could argue that their product doesn’t qualify as a variation under Amazon’s catalog guidelines and request that the items be unlinked.

If it is the same brand and collection, the situation gets more complicated. As a retailer, you typically have limited write privileges and wouldn’t be able to unlink the product yourself. Unfortunately, Amazon is unlikely to unlink it unless the brand owner takes action. The brand could grant you representation rights through the Brand Registry, but that’s usually difficult to obtain.

I realize this might not be the easiest answer. Maybe someone else here has a workaround or a better suggestion.
