Customer issues
A customer in Ireland has reported a non delivery. He Used a virtual address, whatever that is and now wants the replacement sending to a different address. Plus so far this hasn’t come from messages on the Amazon site. Feels dodgy.
Any suggestions.

the “Virtual Address” is a freight forwarder (we’ve had a bunch from the US recently) they’ll take the order, work out whats in it, charge the buyer accordingly, push it through customs, and send it to the buyers real address.
As far as the law is concerned, once it arrive at the virtual address it counts as delivered, as far as Amazon is concerned, who knows…
If communication is not coming through amazon, then I would ask them to message you via amazon.

There are two features of interest here, as far as you are concerned.
Firstly, it is not uncommon for customers in Ireland and Northern Ireland to use “virtual addresses” or “parcel motels”, often due to the remoteness of their addresses. However, in this instance, whilst you don’t want an A-Z, ask the customer to send you written confirmation via Amazon messaging, as @A_Fistful_of_Dice rightly says, so that you have a paper trail. In the meantime, if you can, get confirmation that the item has been delivered via tracking.
Secondly, in future, if the address doesn’t look right, cancel the order using the “Undeliverable Shipping Address” as the reason. A minor pre-order cancellation defect is better than loss of goods. Parcel Motels tend to fine. We send to them all the time, especially in Northern Ireland.

Hi
Well because of Brexit and the potential for disruption I decided to limit sales to the UK, didn’t sell much elsewhere so…
I was unaware of parcel motel. Having looked into it they announced mid December that they would be suspending the service on the 28 dec, customer ordered on the 30 dec, so if the service was suspended how did they place the order?
I should add I stopped selling outside uk in November and there was no reference to the book being posted on to an Irish address.
And i replied to the customer before i went on the seller forum, so far nothing.
Thanks for the replies by the way.
