Missing Payment
I have had a payment from Amazon for more than £1600 go missing. It was paid to a account ending in four digits I do not recognise. I told Amazon the day after the payment was made (when I noticed it was wrong) so they had plenty of time to cancel it and I presumed it would just bounce back into my account but it has now been 18 days. I keep opening cases and get the same generic answers telling me the date it was paid and the last four digits of the account it was paid to. They also keep advising me to contact my bank and ask them to trace it but of course my bank can’t trace a payment to a mystery account only Amazon can do that. Any advise would be great as I’m getting nowhere with seller support.

What you are experiencing is not an issue with the payment being missing, however your Seller Account was compromised.
Contact the Seller Support if you are unable to update your deposit method on file, they will offer you a different way how to do this - by supplying some documents to verify your identity. Update your password and login information.
Here are Amazon’s help pages where you can learn how to protect your account against attempts to compromise it:

Yes I realise it was compromised and I deleted the unknown bank details and changed all my passwords etc. I have explained all this to seller support but I am getting nowhere.

So Amazon can just ignore me is that what you are saying. If my money has been stolen Amazon are not helping me discover who by in fact they are hindering my investigations with there bad advice.

But you get an email when bank details are changed and a 3 day hold on payments as a security precaution/ didn’t you get this?

No I never recieved any email. In a conversation this afternoon on live chat Amazon rep told me I would not receive the money so I intend to write a letter of complaint to Amazon head office then seek legal advise.

Yes Adrian I totally understand Amazon’s concerns but my beef is I can’t get past the seller support stage and get some decent info out of them regarding where this bank account is based etc. I am pretty sure that I didn’t give out any clues as to how to access my account either by clicking links and definitely no phone calls. Everything else seemed normal and once I realised a different bank account had been added I deleted it and changed all my passwords etc. I also contacted Amazon the day after the payment was sent (as soon as I noticed) and informed them of the mystery bank account so Amazon could have just stopped the payment then.

with OTP, how do hackers get control of the account ?

This is a police matter, it’s fraud.
Amazon cannot help you any further but what they may do and I’m surprised they haven’t done already, is triggered some sort of verification.
I recommend dispersing daily on Amazon, that way you have limited funds left in the account. This also means that daily you see the account being used as it shows when you disburse and if you disburse every 24 hours there is little time for someone to be able to complete disbursement before you do it.
This also safe guards your cash for when Amazon suddenly spring verification on you too!

I seen an increase in spam emails these days from orders, to fba stock being returned, to payment mine go in junk and i always check the emails on all of them. These adderess are are not even anywhere near the amazon email addresses. So dont click on any link and always login directly on the website. Never through a link.
