Holiday Mode vs Extended Handling Times

Whats the consensus on the best way to go about this?

For context, i'll be away for a long weekend (Friday to Monday), resuming on Tuesday morning.

Is it better to set the holiday mode for the time period, or extend our handling times to compensate?

Thanks

We extend handling times. We do it at Christmas as well, and just go in 1 day per week to clear orders.

We've had problems with holiday settings before in that they seemed to permanently reduce sales velocity.

I know other have said that it takes a while for the offers to come back active once you turn the settings off.

If they're not able to be purchased at all, then your competitors will get sales in the interim, and their sales rank will go up, so you may even have yours fall which can take a while to recover from depending on what you sell.

We always extend the handling time. Even for a longish holiday of 12 days we extend the handling time to 12 days if that makes sense. However we have put holiday mode on before and it only took about 48 hours to resume normal order quantity. But for me I prefer the sound of just extending the handling time
