Can I be paid, please?

Yesterday, when I clicked "payments", I have found the worst possible surprise.

I had a balance of £ 222.38, but £117.31 will be kept in "reserve", while the payment of £105.07 will be initiated on the 19/8.

I have been a professional bookseller for 15 years, my Amazon account is healthy, I have never had more than 5% refund in one month, a reserve of 53% is obviously excessive.

Will Amazon retain 53% of my future earnings as well?

Can someone inform me?

Thank you for your kind attention.

Sorry to hear of this however the new reserve policy has been announced several times by email and notices on seller central and discussed at length in the forum. It even made the news on the radio.

All sellers are affected, even those with zero returns. It's criminal and a huge abuse of power but all you can do is email eu-uk-reserve-policy-extension@amazon.co.uk to request an extension until September 2025.

Unfortunately, for sellers, just for claritys sake. Amazon need most of the sellers reserve money to plow into new businesses. It basically free money for them. We borrow money at a certain APR, Amazon uses sellers money freely. Masterful business!

It all seems a bit silly doesn't it.

This thread has just prompted me to check my status - I have had a £253 reserve applied to my account and after checking my returns, I've only had 2 returns in the last 12 months, which combined are about 42 quid.

Not sure where the £253 comes from but if @Seller_8ZzHpSQkh7aJAis correct then I hope Amazon enjoy using my funds, and no I will not charge any usage fee or interest in my own money as I'm sure the good faith will be repaid one day.

Thia is one of the reasons that I have removed 95% of my inventory from Amazon - it;'s amazing how other marketplaces and my webiste have increased sales to cover the shortfall.

They've taken nearly £2k off us. That's a month salary for one of my staff. Returns are always effected before payout, so this is just a cash grab,. and we have no court of appeal.

I don't understand, they have been doing this for a long time, they actually forced us to open a new account like 5/6 years ago so they could force this on us as before that we were paid instantly (kindof)

Is the reserve for the new delivery date reserve or another type of reserve (for example if your account is under review or you have had A-Zs)?

If the former (delivery date reserve) then it will not ever be a specific percentage of your funds but rather they will now only release funds for orders 7 days after delivery. So no it will not mean Amazon will retain 53% of future earnings.

If you ship with tracking then it will be 7 days after tracking confirms delivery to get funds released

If you do not ship with tracking then it will be 7 day after the estimated delivery date.

So basically, you will have to wait an additional week to get your funds.

If the reserve you are now under is due to an account review or A-Zs then you will need to find out what the problem is and try to correct it.
