Amazon funded refund versus Seller funded refunds with A-Z Claims
We are a Seller on Amazon with a Seller Fulfilled model in which we are integrated with an integrator connected to our systems. Within this model, we selected the merchant prepaid return labels model in which we provide our return labels ourselves as well that refunds are handled through our systems.
When looking at our Claims / refunds, we saw a differentiation between Seller funded refunds and Amazon funded refunds. When a Seller funded refund has been triggered, Amazon Seller Central sends this update towards our systems, however when an Amazon funded refund has been applied, there is nothing communicated. We do not see a pattern in reason codes which shows why there is an Amazon funded refunds versus a Seller funded refunds, as well, we do not see a setting which we forgot to put on or not.
Have you experienced a similar situation? Do you know how to solve this?

Reading that, would it not be a question for the integrator? Assuming sorry that they are a third party of some kind.
We use Rithum (formerly Channel Advisor) and often get issues like that, on ebay as well where certain things don't communicate. But we always just leave it to them to resolve (if they can)

If you are only looking to get stats on reasons for refunds then you can obviously see the difference between Amazon and Seller refunds - just not the reason why. Well if Amazon have refunded then it will be due to either a out of policy or none delivery issue. Its rare Amazon will fund refunds themselves. Amazon will not fund refunds if there was an issue such as not as described or faulty.
If you are wanting to update your records from a bookkeeping/accounts perspective then the records will be accurate as you have not lost money on Amazon funded refunds - you still record the sale and pay any taxes due as you have still received the money and so in effect made the sale.
