Inbound shipment problem - missing tracking informatino

Hi,

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

I’ve been using the same Palletline network member (Law Distribution) to send pallets to Amazon for years. I’ve not changed the way I do anything.

On the last two shipments, I’ve received a warning that the tracking ID was missing from the shipment. In the past, the shipment ID has auto-completed with the FBA number on the “Tracking events” tab, and I’ve not needed to add any further tracking info.

I phoned the Palletline dept of Law Distribution who say that they don’t have any other tracking ID with which I could use to fill in the box on tracking even and that nothing has changed from their end.

I’ve got another shipment which is currently in transit and suspect that this will have the same issues.

Does anyone know what I can do about this? As far as I knew, no tracking ID is required when using Palletline as they are an Amazon partnered carrier. Palletline didn’t have any additional tracking Id to give me anyway.

Has anyone come across this issue?

Hi Damian, the only numbers Palletline request from me are - Amazon Reference ID (e.g. 6PX8416X as a random example), and Shipment ID (e.g. FBA15GXXX1Y60 again as a random example).

What I’ve been doing, and have had no issues these past few months, is that you come to the last screen and you Save the Shipping ID as the number they specifically recommend, i.e. FBAxxxxxxx, and then under the tracking filed, I cut and paste the same FBAxxxx number in.

I think / guess it is this number that Palletline use to communicate deliveries to Amazon and therefore allows them to facilitate tracking.

Do palletline not give tracking numbers for each consignment?

Hey @Damian1,

Have you an update on this? Were you successful in entering the information?

Here’s another thread on this same issue:

Freight progressive number (PRO) for FBA pallets post 1 November? - Fulfilment By Amazon / Shipping Inventory to Amazon - Amazon Seller Forums

It sounds like the OP of that thread has been told the same by their courier as myself - that only the FBA number is used to track the shipment and the PRO/Freight Bill Number isn’t used.

I’ll post back if using the FBA number as the PRO/Freight Bill Number stops this warning.

I emailed Palletline about this issue for clarification and they’ve responded saying that (in summary) if we enter a number which is easily associated with the shipment into the PRO/Freight Bill Number box then this issue should be avoided.

I’m assuming that this means that either the FBA number or the Amazon Reference ID should work but I’ll stick with the FBA number as other sellers have told me that they’ve done this for the past year without issue.

What’s confusing with this is that on the “tracking events” tab of the shipment creation page, the FBA number is automatically added and selected as the recommended way to track the order. Therefore adding the FBA number again into the PRO/Freight Bill Number box immediately below is not at all an obvious thing to do. This arises because Palletline (or at least some of their member’s (Neil’s experience above is different)) use the FBA number as the tracking ID and so this is what Amazon require in the PRO/Freight Bill Number field.
