What Do I do when my stock arrives?
Hi guys,
wow its been a challenge even getting to this stage! this is the first time ive ever set up a business before so everything has been an experience, from opening a business bank account, to speaking to manufacturers etc (setting up the amazon account has probably been the most complicated task though!)
so my stock i’ve been told will be ready in 2 weeks… now all the FBA guides ive watched on youtube explain how to set up an FBA account etc, and then advertising your products etc, but they dont really go into much detail regarding where to send your stock. Ive told my supplier i will be selling on amazon, and he is happy to send it straight to them. How do ifind out where to send it to etc? ive not yet created listings on amazon (ive made drafts).
so what do i do when i get the phonecall saying the stock is ready?

My assumption is you’l want to see the stock first to check quality before sending to Amazon - can be best if it’s a new relationship with the supplier.
Other than that, Seller University has a full guide on creating a shipment - it’s the shipment creation process where you get given the address to send to.

Cannot echo that enough - get the stock sent to you to check over first
There are many reports of the finished goods not being to the standard of the samples purchased
Out of interest, what category / products are you selling ?
Do you have all relevant permissions / safety paperwork etc

In general, this is not a good idea, as you will have no control over what’s being sent on your behalf, and yet you will have responsibility for it.

Does that include buying appropriate insurance, in case Amazon ask to see proof of it? (Which they might.)

Also need to consider if the items need amazon labels and who will label them, do they have a barcode on?

I have got a lot of things wrong through my journey with Amazon - but FBA is pretty simple.
Just make sure boxes aren’t heavy and boxes are in good condition, add your labels.

I’ve lost count of the number of new sellers that have appeared in the last few weeks quoting youtube as their main source of information.
Those who post here generally do so because the youtube advice they initially followed has landed them in hot water.
I think there is probably a lesson to be learned there somewhere…
As an aside, I never buy food, medicines or supplements from Amazon marketplace sellers, especially those with no track record.
It must be a very difficult market to become established in, given that most people are probably choosy about what they put into their bodies and will gravitate towards known brands and sellers.

Ok guys its been a very educational day…
reading back on the thread i can see why people were getting irritated as I didn’t have a clue.
I’m now fully aware of barcoding, EAN’s and manufacturers batch numbers which will be on the product,
along with the FNSKU which I will be placing on the items once received from Amazon. (or i may just pay the 15p) i would not like to be co mingling with other sellers, although there’s arguements for and against.
i’m also aware of gating and non gated items and understand reasons for it… i’ve spoken to the manufacturer for all valid documents in order to get permissions.
i’ve also been on the case regarding insurance for the stock to sit in FBA warehouse.
