Hijacked Listing Advice

Hi everyone,

Our second best selling cosmetic product listing was hijacked by one of the many sellers who could not compete with the other sellers. The rogue seller changed all of the images and even the brand name and now the product sells one or two per month instead of the hundreds of sales it used to enjoy.

We are the brand owner of the products being sold but because the Brand Name has been changed we are powerless to intervene. I have tried compalinging but no one responds.

The product as it stands breaks several Amazon policies - but I cannot be heard - any suggestions ?

I am happy to share the product Asin if this is allowed ?

Thank you…

Have you tried contacting the BR team with the GS1 certs to show the real brand name so that you can regain control ?

How does it even allow brand name changes ? I am brand registered and unable to change any of my earlier listings from generic to the brand and have had to create new ASIN’s in all cases despite being the only seller, so I don’t get how some sellers are permitted or able to make these changes when Brand name changes are specifically against policy ??

The only way to change the brand is via a flat file (excel spreadsheet) upload. These are seemingly are not monitored or policed and is how brands are hijacked.

Seller Services, Brand registry etc are in my experience entirely useless. They cant get their head around any of it and the bots simply say no. There used to be a way of downloading the file, you could then minimally edit and upload it over writing the brand. Unfortunately Amazon seemed to have stopped this at the start of the year and you have to start with a blank page, making errors much more likely.

In cases like this it is still probably the best option but not without risk.

Good luck!

Theres nothing really you can do. I’ve had this happen to me before It’s a mistake you have to learn as a new seller. It sucks massively, yes. But you’ll know not to do it again. I have had it a few times myself and managed to convince the seller to come off the listing by sending them the trademark numbers and inform them that this is brand protected by UK TM Law. Sometimes that does the trick. I’ve done what the other seller said when you do a file upload. And it worked, but he might be right in saying that they’ve fixed this now. Haven’t done that since last August. Good luck

The same has happened to me yesterday, a company called AWDHIRU has hijacked ASIN of exclusive product that i hold copyright to, i do not have brand registry, but the actual product is copyrighted to my brand name.
I have contacted the MD yesterday evening and still waiting on a response.

I don’t see how on earth some brand, can get control over a ASIN, that has been mine for 3 years, that is a exclusive product that i manufacture.
