Sales fallen off a cliff
Hi…I joined FBA Prime and started selling , primarily books, just over a month ago.
sales were coming in at about 1 per day up until 5 days ago…Nada.
My listings seem to be active and OK and Ive had no negative messages from Amazon about my account. My products are mainly non fiction(self help, text , baby etc) and under a million rank in general . Any advice / comments appreciated. Thanks

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a drop off sales. But you are not the only one, there are already multiple discussions on the subject published over the past few days:
I can only suggest you to try adding more inventory, possibly unique products which are not yet sold by other sellers or have lower competition.

Are you selling single copies of each book or do you have mutiples of each? If it’s the former, have you added any new inventory since you first started selling? It’s possible that your sales have been steady up to now as your best-selling, most in-demand stock has sold fairly quickly but if you’re not replenishing, all other things being equal, sales will slow down. And if you’re only averaging one per day, 5 days without a sale may not be statistically significant. August is a relatively slow time of year for book sales but the best time of year is just around the corner, so hopefully things will pick up for you.

Keep in mind we are only about a week away for Pay Day for a lot of people.
I guess it depends on what you’re selling but for us sales always slow down this time of month and start to pick up once people have been paid.

Hi JTA
Your original post about sums me up also starting selling mainly non-fiction books via FBA about 6 weeks ago was selling roughly one per day but the last 4-5 days nothing. Im putting it down to August is the holiday season so many are away, plus bank holiday this coming weekend.
all being well pick up next week.
I usually send in roughly 60-75 books per week.

my sales are slow at the best of times, tech products, but this last week they have suddenly shot up. strange!

i dont think its anything unusual if you were only selling 1 per day to begin with. its just peaks and troughs of business. If you were doing say 50 orders a day and then suddenly nothing for days it would ring alarm bells.

Hi,
I’m a general book and CD seller (5850 items on line as well as 3000 different and better quality books on ABE) as well so you won’t want to hear that my monthly sales which normally average 100 have jumped to 130. I sell direct not FBA. This may be because I added a few hundred jazz CDs in the previous 3 months and they have augmented the admittedly slower book sales.
I am trying an experiment in not buying stock for a while and just seeing how sales progress. It has meant my bank balance looks very healthy but I do expect sales to begin to dip in due course. For the moment it all looks good and it is nice to see old stock disappearing.
How many items do you have on line?

It’s completely normal for August to be a dead month. Get over it. September to end of Jan is very busy.

We have also noticed that the holiday time (or just after it) can be very quiet especially if it’s nearing the end of the month. It will hopefully pick up in Sept. I personally have been making sure that the stocks are full in case of Brexit and if the pound plummets even further.
