Amazon wrongly determine I am a Non-UK Based Company - HELP!!!

Hi ..... has anyone else had this issue,and if so, how do I get it corrected.

Following submitting all the documents asked for by Amazon to confirm I am a UK resident, running a UK registered & based company (always have been!), Amazon have decided I am based outside the UK so are now calculating how much VAT I owe!

I am British and the business was registered in the UK in 2008 and has always been based in Gloucester, UK ..... I have no idea how Amazon have decided the outcome they have from the information & documents I sent them!

Apart from emailing the address they provide to query, which I am in the processing of doing, does anyone have any information as to how to get this corrected ? I am scared stiff of how much VAT Amazon are going to tell me I owe in 3 days!

I seem to remember there was another post here on the forum by someone in the same situation - totally UK based, but, like you, told based outside UK. I have tried to find the post, but can't.

I think you need to open a case with Seller Support, so that at least you have a case number, and then maybe try the MD (managingdirector@amazon.co.uk) - they will not respond unless you have already opened a case with SS.

This seems really bizarre when you have been in business so long - I guess 15 years. Hope this is resolved for you.

Looking at your company there are a number of businesses registered to the same address as you.

Are you using a virtual office or an accountants address? Have you been able to provide an invoice showing that you can receive business supplies to that address?

Amazon may think you are not based in the UK because of you using a virtual office. Obviously there are other pointers which should show you are based in the UK. I have seen something similar with another seller.
