Is it just me?
Ok, so I am really disappointed with my whole experience of trying to sell on amazon as a business.
First off, the verification process is painstaking. I am a sole owner of a private limited company. I provided all of my details and that of the business. I verified my identity with passport, proof of address, and face recognition. All done you would think... then I needed to appoint a legal representative? (which of course is me) So went through the same process again with the same details. This got approved. Still not done.... then I got asked for a letter of authority signed by the business owner. I did this....... and now all ok I think? What else can they ask for?
I decided to crack on a list a couple of products. OMG. I must be stupid? The amount of mandatory fields that are of no relevance to my product were substantial. Problems;
Not accepting my images of the products (no error message or reason why) just vanishes. Despite ensuring these match the long list of acceptable standards.
My products do not have a manufacturer number or barcode - As they are printed to order (homemade if you like) I applied for an exemption which was approved and submitted the listing without pictures owing to the problem mentioned. My listing is now pending with the following message; "This SKU has an inconsistent product classification with the ASIN. Please submit a feed to update this SKU to match the ASIN product classification"
Please submit a feed?? I have no clue.
Also on the product attributes, all I want is the following: Product Style (A few Designs to choose from) and Size. But you cannot seem to select these two together??
Basically the whole process has consumed hours of my time.... i am nowhere nearer to selling, stressed and peed off!!
Also it appeared when signing up that the cost was £25 per month.... nothing was mentioned of VAT which of course has been added and charged to my card already. 0 transparency? Also I have had a few seperate payments of £1 taken from my card and I have no idea what these are for.
If I want to speak to someone... apparently I can wait 7 days for a call back... or submit a ticket and get a very unhelpful reply.
Not happy. Sorry for the rant.

Welcome to Amazon! You are experiencing in a short period of time what we all experience soon or later, but yours is a crash course. Amazon is not flexible, the database is a mess and seller support is useless and I could go on. The reason many sellers are still here is because here it's busy and it's relatively easy to sell.

stick with it it's worth it. Have a look at the seller university and learn how to use excel uploads to list products. It's sooo much easier and you can list thousands at once, especially handy when doing parent and child listings, I have a formula within excel so i just enter minimal details for each product and it populates to all the fields, took ages to do but now it's a doddle.
For pics I use ibb.co upload there get a link and stick it in your excel sheet.
The excel sheets come with guidance and will show you how to lost multiple sizes and styles under the same parent product.
Sometimes if u pick a sku an get errors and try to fix it gives you the asin doesn't match thing, delete and use a different sku.
Honestly good luck it'll be worth it!

Quote: ... it appeared when signing up that the cost was £25 per month.... nothing was mentioned of VAT which of course has been added.
It actually does say that the price excludes VAT (so you assume that they will add VAT !) - here is a cut and paste from the sign up page: £25 (excl. VAT) per month + selling fees
If you do not want to pay any more professional plan fees until you can sell, you can downgrade to the individual plan - go to account info (cog wheel top right) - manage your services - sell on amazon - and click on the individual button. This is the Selling PLAN, not the account type. Even Business Account sellers do not HAVE to pay the professional plan fee.

Wait until your inbound stock goes missing, your listing photo suddenly changes from the product to a shoe, or your disbersements get stopped for some "checks" on your business..

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the selling of products on the Amazon platform" "If you are successful in this endeavour, you will have the life skills, patience and unimaginable knowledge to overcome anything, that life could ever throw at you in the future"
Welcome to Amazon, and good luck

Hi there, I have had some experience with the GTIN exemption it is very important to make sure yo have the brand exactly as it's written in the authorisation notice that you received, wrong capitals or even a space at the end will stop it working correctly.

Lol.
You're new to this Amazon lark then. If you feel frustrated now, wait until you've been on here a while! It'll literally age you three years for every one. REALLY.
