New handling time question.

A new ODTR is in place, which means the handling time, as it were, has been updated, and as a result, third-party sellers will have imposed an automated handling time, which is one day. Without any setting to opt-out.

My question is. Is handling time:

1- The time between the placing of an order and the time you enter a tracking number for that purchase,

or...

2- The time between placing that order and the time the USPS scans the tracking number?

Is the time of entering the tracking number irrelevant as long as it happens during the set handling time, or, it has to be inserted minutes before going to the USPS?

Please some seasoned Seller please answer so that the rest of us can benefit from some knowledge, Amazon help pages are not consistent with the options I found, they are outdated they also Amazon specific jargon, like "ship by date" and "handling time" are two different things but in the ASmazon world they seem to mean the same sometimes.

thanks beforehand for any help.

I am sure many of us got the same email:

Hi @Seller_XJk5RkDQR39p0,

Handling time, also known as production time or lead time to ship, is the time between when the customer places the order up to when you hand over the order to a carrier. Handling time is part of the delivery date calculation displayed to customers on the offer listing and checkout page.

Best,

Dominic
