I Feel defeated and want to cry

I’ve had an Amazon business I’ve built for my son from his ideas since he was 4 years old. I feel we had some success with a lot of potential. I’ve been buying FBM shipping through Amazon for 10 years with no problems. Everything just changed. I’ve been hit with over $1,500 within two weeks for “other adjustment” fees and they keep coming.

Amazon seller support says they passed these fees through to me from UPS and can’t point me to the specific problem. UPS says my shipments have no adjustments in their system. They have no idea where these fees came from but supposedly it’s not from them. I don’t know who’s charging me these fees and I’m afraid to buy a shipping label. Not using UPS for my products is impossible in the winter.

Seller support gave me a list of things it could be including fuel surcharges, additional handling, dimensional weight, and shrink wrap. I don’t think it’s dimensional weight because I have these fees on some packages that I added an inch to each dimension and a pound. UPS says it’s definitely not the shrink wrap and they shrink wrapped some of my packages.

Is $1,500 fuel surcharges really something I need to worry about when purchasing a shipping label? Has anyone else seen this?

Has anyone seen additional handling charges for a package less than a pound and less than a cubic foot?

When you purchase a shipping label through buy shipping, as long as you plug in dimensions and weights greater than your package, do you worry about “dimensional weight”?

Do you shrink wrap your packages to keep them dry or has UPS shrink wrapped your packages and you seen these fees?

“Our internal team has completed the review and the order ID 111-3621784-xxxxxxx includes demand surcharge due to peak.”

So when we buy shipping labels through Amazon “Buy Shipping”, we can be charged over $3000 for peak? Peak is not factored in when we buy the shipping label? UPS decided my 64 1 pound packages that are less than a cubic foot needed charged $52 each for items I sold for $20.

If I purchased these 64 labels at the UPS counter, they would not come back and charge my credit card an additional $3000 later for peak. Why is Amazon ok giving my money away?

I would advise dropping Amazon buy-shipping and purchasing through your own UPS account.

"Do you shrink wrap your packages to keep them dry or has UPS shrink wrapped your packages and you seen these fees?"

This is at least your third (or maybe 5th or 6th) post about this -- a couple apparently have been deleted.

One of the early ones had a mention by a seller that UPS does have a surcharge for packages with bubble wrap for some reason.

Now, as to what @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6bltold you, I responded with the costs for UPS shipping and the fact that I ALWAYS pay less using Stamps/Endicia/Dazzle instead of Amazon Buy Shipping for UPS.

Unless your INR and returns run more than 10% you will probably be BETTER by not using Amazon.

Just do a test to compare prices and see how much less using your own postage system is. AND, why are you using UPS? The Post Office and Ground Advantage is generally less for packages the size and weight you posted in the other post.

My example was $9.73 for UPS and only $7.61 for USPS GA.

It appears that you are wasting a LOT of money.

Finally, about your comment about "I’ve had an Amazon business I’ve built for my son from his ideas since he was 4 years old."

Are you aware that unless you have structured the business entity on Amazon as a corporation with shareholders and a board of directors the Amazon account is NOT able to be transferred or sold to your son at any time in the future?

Are your items shipped in brown unmarked boxes with just your label or are you shipping them and it shows that its live bugs. We're assuming it's cuz it's live bugs and considered hazardous and someone in UPS decided that these things need special handling and started adding adjustment if you didn't flag it as such. Not sure but we would assume shipping live insects would not be the same price as a box of socks even if they weight the same and same size. The issue is if one of them breaks, how it affects the staff that has to handle it.

@Seller_32ZMm9zfeBF6v, @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6bl is right, and we’re deeply sorry to hear about your experience. It’s been an incredibly challenging year for small, US-based third-party sellers like us. Increasing competition, rising costs, and unfair fees have made it nearly impossible to stay competitive and profitable. In your situation, Amazon directs you to UPS, and UPS sends you back to Amazon—a frustrating cycle we’ve dealt with ourselves more than once. Using your own UPS account might give you more control to dispute charges, but it’s a difficult trade-off since it could impact your A-to-Z protection. The past two years have been devastating. We’ve worked tirelessly to support families here in Texas through this business, but constant challenges have slashed profits and brought us to the edge. We truly understand your frustration because we’re going through it too. Stay strong.

How are you generating these reports where you can see the other fees? I am trying to make sure I am not going through the same thing!

A new reason my packages may be “adjusted” for “other” fees is because my packages are not completely in a brown corrugated box. They are in a brown corrugated box with our yellow and blue logo on one side.

Has anyone seen UPS adjustments because their packages are not completely brown?

Can anyone show me where this is stated in UPS policy?

But, according to your feedback, you also use/used FBA for these live critters!! Am I reading that right??

And, there have been problems ... "DOA" problems! They probably never survived the warehousing!

Were these FBA packages labeled as "live insects" (or whatever)? (And I'm wondering if your UPS packages are labeled properly. I would HOPE that UPS has different handling guidelines for "live"-labeled packages!)

"Live" via FBA blows my mind!

Have you ever heard of a seller getting fees for the package not being completely brown or because they are live insects?

Hello @Seller_32ZMm9zfeBF6v. The information I shared mentioned corrugated cardboard but does not specify color.
