Use vacation mode to protect your account health
If you plan to take time off over the summer, we recommend that you update your vacation status to prevent new seller-fulfilled orders and protect your account health.
When you set your account to On vacation, we temporarily remove your seller-fulfilled listings from Amazon product detail pages and search results.
If this setting is not enabled, missed shipments can hurt your performance metrics, including the following:
- Late shipment rate
- Valid tracking rate
- Order defect rate
- Pre-fulfillment cancellation rate
To enable vacation mode, follow these steps:
- Go to Store status and vacation settings.
- Click Edit.
- Under Vacation status, use the toggle to set your store status to On vacation.

I consider this bad advice. I would extend lead times instead and/or simply not go on vacation. We have found that coming back from vacation mode -- which should lead to higher sales from pent up demand -- incurs a period of decreased sales, as the algos take a while to realize you're on the platform and relevant again. Also, Amazon will still expect you do all the stuff that isn't accepting orders, so you can't ever really go on vacation.
This would be useful only if you needed to throw the emergency brake lever, e.g. your warehouse catches on fire. IMHO.
