Alternatives to AVASK and VAT Global/ Zee - EU VAT Compliance

Has anyone tried J&P Accountants for EU VAT returns/compliance? I was originally with VAT Global then foolishly signed up to the VAT promotion Amazon ran last year which turned out to be completely inappropriate for an established business. I had selected AVASK in that promotion so ended up leaving the Amazon promotion and signing up with AVASK directly.

Last year the Spanish tax authority sent a notice to AVASK for a compliance check. AVASK failed to respond to three of their letters and the compliance check turned into an audit. During the audit it was discovered that VAT Global had filled in my annual return incorrectly but because AVASK hadn’t responded to their letters (at which point VAT Global’s errors could have been discovered and corrected), I had to pay €8200 in owed VAT and another €4000 in penalties. Mind you the VAT was from Q3 and Q4 2021 when the new VAT rules had kicked in so Amazon was remitting the VAT directly to the tax authorities. The mistake in the form meant I had to pay this €12,000 out of pocket (ouch!).

Based on this experience I obviously have to transfer PoA. I’m fed up with the gaslighting from AVASK. When I complained about their service they replied by cherry picking parts of my email and completely ignoring the issue, notably they failed to respond to the tax office or even start the compliance check on time after I’d paid them for it. By the time they started the check the tax authorities had started their audit. I’m so disappointed with the quality of service at AVASK. By the way for anyone who was wondering these EU VAT compliance companies aren’t regulated by any body and their “indirect tax consultants” aren’t qualified accountants that are members of any professional body so they don’t care about complaints.

Anyway I’ve found a new company called J&P Accountants and was wondering if anybody else has signed up with them and used their services. They are also much cheaper than AVASK. I know Avalara is another option, but I wouldn’t even waste my free call allowance on them based on all the awful reviews I’ve seen about them on this forum.
