Self Fullfilled Shipping how can I save Money on it?

I have just started selling books on Amazon just mine and some friends so not looking to become anything but a small player. Very enjoyable and I have got around a 100 books listed and sold about 1 a day for the last 7 days I have been doing this. I upgraded to a pro account a few days ago as I might just about break even with the fee’s saving.

Buying shipping from Amazon is super easy but my only realistic options with them are Evri at £2.95 for most books and can’t seem to use when possible Royal Mail Large Letter as it is greyed out as wouldn’t fullfill my obligations I have agreed to in it being tracked. I could get cheaper pricing from Evri using Parcel-2-Go but can’t see a practical way to set that up.

I would be really grateful for some down to earth advice on shipping tweaks for a small seller like myself or directed to where this information might already be - sorry I couldn’t find anything in searching forum or using google.

Also I only have domestic shipping enabled should I be adding international?

RM isn’t greyed out for it not being tracked - it doesn’t have to be fully tracked

It’s possibly greyed out due to the dimensions

Large Letter must be less than 2.5cm deep and under 750g

Only add international if you are conversant with IOSS and its implications on your selling price

I’m also a book seller and have not sold overseas since Brexit as there are so many rules etc, and the postage cost for overseas is high.
As you have upgraded to the Pro. selling plan then you can assign your own shipping templates and set your own postage charge to cover the actual price of overseas postage, but there are other things to consider if posting overseas.

It is really not necessary to send books under about £20 value as tracked as just adds to the postage cost. Books over £20 value and you are better not using Evri as they only cover up to £20, but use RM signed for, or possibly Yodel.
You need to be sure you enter the correct weight and dimensions for all shipping options to be shown.

You can use Smart Send with Parcel 2 Go which will automate the process better for you.

Alternatively just buy the shipping from Parcel 2 Go and enter the tracking number into Amazon. It should be the EVRI number you enter and not the parcel 2 go number.

Wow thanks for such fast useful responses!

I was wrong as stated above about why royal mail was greyed out. It was because I hadn’t completed

Shipping service requirements
[Enter prohibited and restricted goods classification]

So awesome I can use royal mail now. Jilly that seems good advice on values and sending.

As far as starting to send international after I read “conversant with IOSS and its implications” I thought hmm… maybe not and this was confirmed by the second reply!

Smiley Guy - thanks for the guidance on using Parcel 2 Go as I did have Smart Send set up with eBay a while so hopefully not too bad to set up with Amazon!

I integrated Parcel2Go this morning with my Amazon seller account and sent a book over 2Kg for £5.20 insurance upto £20 via Evri and the exact same service but no insurance with Evri via Amazon would have cost £5.78. Shipping details moved across to Parcel2Go and shipping status was updated on Amazon.
