Fixed Price Alerts

Anyone else having trouble with fixed priced alerts, I now have 68 and have opened a case with SS, messages backwards and forwards with the same old rubbish they come back with, so unhelpful, I tried to explain that no matter what I put in minimum and maximum price it still fails to work.

After day’s of trying to tell them the problem, they closed the case down!!

So still stuck with 68 price alerts!!

Any Ideas Please?

Word of warning. Had this for weeks and they then turned into alleged pricing violations just by pure coincidence despite me trying to fix them and open cases and i am now suspended.

AMAZON ARE NOW DICTATING HOW MUCH WE SELL OUR ITEMS FOR, HERE IS THERE RESPONSE:-
We understand that you have an issue with potential high pricing error. We have investigated the listing thoroughly and found the following:

We have noticed that the price for your listing (example ASIN : ********** ) is currently set above the Average Selling price(ASP) of the ASIN. Kindly note that the ASP is system auto generated and we will not be able to manually unsuppress the ASIN’s error . ASP is calculated based on multiple aspects and historical prices of the ASINs etc… The only way to make ASIN live on site is to reduce the price and try to sell it in a Marketplace fair price policy. Kindly note that we will not be able to disclose the ASP value due to confidentiality issues. Please edit your listing in the “Manage Inventory” page and reset the price for it to activate. Note that once you have set your Minimum and Maximum price, these values cannot be removed.

Looks like they want us all to be on a par with magpie and WoB, price-wise…:money_with_wings:

Lets see if anyone can explain this or even maybe some one from Amazon.

Take a look at this item 9789838120005, mine was a bit more expensive than the one that is listed.
So it was deactivated as being too high.

Now look at this book B01FIZYZCA mine was cheaper than all of them, this just proves the system is broke.
Also note the so called Amazon Price for £48.60 for new, yet note it is a secondhand copy and not even new, and not even from Amazon.
But even worse look at the New Price Advertised £948.85.

Now with that example no one can tell me things have not gone wrong!!

It is an attempt to price fix, nothing more, nothing less. I had this last week on 2 products that only myself and Amazon are selling and we both get from the same supplier. I was £6.95 on both whilst Amazon was £7.06 and £7.45 and i had my listings removed under this new policy and no amount of me arguing or sending proof did me any good. It is against the law it is that simple.

Price fixing is illegal. Please everybody, talk to your MP’s. If 100+ MP’s get the same complaint it will be dealt with.

I think I have the right to adjust my prices up to allow for the fraud, theft, etc, that goes on many eCommerce sites.

Some of you might remember the time when Amazon told us we couldn’t sell on our own websites for less than we sold on Amazon.

The European courts took care of that one… Oh, … bugger!

I know I’m not popular on this issue for thinking it’s a glitch, and I concede that that was a simplistic reaction. But further thoughts:

  1. There’s obviously something deliberate about it, but like so many Amazon initiatives, it’s being applied haphazardly and poorly. The AI they use is, as @JillyB1 says, clumsy in the extreme because it’s written for non-media and doesn’t recognise circumstances.
  2. That said, I have had about a dozen listings closed; only one can I argue with, because it’s only apparently overpriced on one site despite being the only listing on all the European marketplaces. The rest were overpriced because I have a 20-euro minimum price to account for postage, but local sellers were there for 1 or 2 euros. Can’t argue, delisted.
  3. The reason the duplicates and the rogues aren’t being hit relates to point 1). The AI doesn’t recognise that the duplicates are the same item as the genuine catalogue page, so it bases its judgement on whether the price is fair (if there is any sales history at all) on the sales only on that catalogue page, which, as we know, will have been ridiculously inflated to begin with, so the “fair” price is ridiculously inflated.

Just my opinion…

Just to add, on some cloned listings, I’ve found the dropshippers just vanish if you go below a certain threshold. Quite often, that ASIN also gets knocked off search results and another clone (with the usual culprits) takes its place.
I think that might be down to them not all using the same algorithms though it’s not something I’ve researched extensively.
For these reasons, I’ve pretty much given up listing on duplicates, even experimentally
