GFSI/HACCP Certificates

Sorry, I’m just copying and pasting the message I tried to send to Amazon but instead, they suggested me an irrelevant web page as per. (We sell/manufacture some supplements)

Hi,

We have been told we need to submit a GFSI or HACCP certificate for compliance on some of our products over our Europe/UK stores.

Do we only need to have those if we sell outside of the UK? We are GMP (Good Manufacturing Process) approved which to be honest, sounds exactly like GFSI/HACCP.

Some info,

“The GMP certification offered by HSA – the Health Services Authority is for companies that manufacture medicinal products or therapeutic products that have active pharmaceutical ingredients. This is the certification authority that Supplement Manufacturing Partners has chosen to receive their GMP Certification from.”

“What is a GMP Audit? A GMP audit is a comprehensive, third-party inspection of a production company. It is meant to identify operational flaws and legal violations. Along with specific inspection results, GMP audits are meant to communicate a set of standards and guidance on how to meet these standards.”

“Good manufacturing practice (GMP) is a system for ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards. It is designed to minimize the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the final product.”

“Your GMP checklist should include checks related to the preparation, review, approval and, distribution of documentation and records related to the manufacture of any intermediates, active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and finished products.”

As you can see, the GMP audit is a comprehensive audit.

If not, if we stop selling outside of the UK do we still need a GFSI or HACCP certificate?

It seems pretty pointless to entertain going through the process of another audit for very similar, if not the same thing?

I just got one of these notices myself and I only have GMP cert which is useless so I won’t even try with that.

If you get lab results to prove your issue I’m thinking.

I’m guessing that comes back to claims if I had to guess.
