I Have Evidence Of Competitor Faking Reviews On My Product, What Next?
Hello everyone,
Today my suspicions of a competitor leaving fake 1-star reviews (3 overall now) have been confirmed.
As I dug deeper into the account that left the most recent 1-star review, I noticed this account has only left 2 reviews, 1 being on my product, and another review being a 5-star, on a car part product (completely unrelated to my industry or product).
I checked the seller that this account left a 5-star review on and lone and behold, this seller is the competitor that sells a similar product to me.
However, is this enough evidence to report him, if so, what should I do next, and who should I contact?
I really appreciate any answers!
Thanks

Unfortunately it is a correlation, not evidence. It is extremely unlikely that Amazon will take any action.

I am sorry, however Amazon is very unlikely to remove any Product Reviews based on your assumptions.
As you know, anyone who meets the £40 spending limit on the Amazon site is able to leave Product Reviews or Ratings for your items without even purchasing them and no action will be taken unless the submission is in a violation of the Community Guidelines in any way.
Here you can review the Amazon Community Guidelines:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201929730
If you believe that the review violates them, go into “Contact us” - “Products and inventory” and “Product reviews”.
Here you can submit a removal request which will take a few days to get reviewed.

Hi all,
Thanks for the responses, however, is it possible to Amazon to dig further and see if there is any correlation between the seller and reviewers personal details, such as IP addresses, or bank account details etc?

Our only negative seller feedback is from a competitor. They purchased a product from us and then upon receipt immediately left us negative feedback questioning the authenticity of the product. As we thought this was utter nonsense and a bit odd as they hadn’t even contacted us to complain, we investigated and found that the buyer was also selling on our listing and had left the same negative feedback on all the sellers that were selling the item cheaper than them. A day later Amazon blocked us from selling that item, we appealed by providing supplier invoices etc, and Amazon accepted our appeal and allowed us to list the product again. We haven’t though as that underhanded competitor is still selling that item and we don’t want to expose ourselves to further negative reviews from them. Interestingly, none of the other sellers that received the negative feedback are selling that item anymore either so the competitor in question has basically just bullied their way to the buy box.
We contacted seller support in May to complain as it was our understanding that it was against Amazon policy to leave reviews for competitors and the status of that case is “transferred”, and has been for the last 4 months. Our negative feedback remains so we’ve just left a comment against the feedback explaining it from our point of view and we moved on, hoping that one day Amazon will respond to our case.
So to answer your question, you could contact seller support but from our point of view, we’re not sure they’ll do an awful lot but if they do, don’t expect it to be resolved quickly.

To be the bearer of bad news, Amazon just wont care, nor will they have the resources to look into it.
However, some words of comfort, eventually karma will find its way to sellers such as these, as they clearly do not think of the medium to long term goals, and and more interested in short term goals, obviously leaving themselves exposed going forward, so one day ( and chances are it will happen) someone will do exactly the same to them.

I had this, and I reported it to Amazon. I found a seller has posted 2-3 reviews on other people’s products that were the same as mine and then left excellent reviews on his own. Amazon DID remove the reviews for me. This was about a year ago though, so they may have changed how they do things now? But certainly worth a try.

Amazon didn’t even care and took no action whatsoever even after the millions of fake reviews were reported across the press earlier this year. Press reported the massive scams and Amazon did NOTHING. If they won’t act on such a massive exposé, they certainly won’t bother for one seller.

The Product Reviews would have to be left directly using someone’s buyer-seller account for Amazon to be able to link them as a competitor.
