A to Z appeal rejected

Hi Sarah I am hoping you can help me with this one as you have been so helpful in the past.
I have a customer who opened an A to Z on the 29th April ( item not received ). I had already resolved the issue on the 26th April by issuing a refund. I do not understand how he was able to raise and A to Z when I had already resolved the problem.
The reason the item was not recieved was the address was not correct on Amazon so the item got returned to me. I messaged the buyer straight away and told him he needed to update his address on Amazon and refunded him. My appeal was turned down and I have opened a case but it has been pending since the 14th May
