Amazon Handmade - entirely new listings?

Hi guys,

I have been selling on Amazon for quite a few years. My products are all handmade.

A while ago I applied for Amazon handmade and was accepted. However that meant creating new listings for all of my products and losing years of reviews/ranking.

I was wondering is there any way around this? Can you create new Handmade listings and add them in a variation to the original listing?

Or use the same ASIN somehow?

Is there any way to list my products without losing years of work?

You can’t use the same asins, you’d need to create new ones in the handmade section

You’d loose your reviews and it’s been said previously there have been glitches whereby handmade listings don’t get shown in main catalogue searches

The only benefit would be the free monthly subscription

From another thread though you say your items are handmade in Indonesia and you import them

Unfortunately, there is no way round this.

The advantages of Handmade are:

There is no monthly fee for a professional account
The referral fee is cheaper 12% (my category is 15% in the main catalog)
The brand waiver (so you don’t have to use the word ‘generic’ which I, personally don’t like. This became an issue for a few days ago but has been resolved now (for me, anyway)
No one can list on your page and you make it more personal with a maker profile, logo on product page, symbol to say made in the UK, links to featured products etc.

I haven’t found any issue with my products being found in main searches, without needing to choose the category ‘handmade’ (I believe there was a glitch with this, for a few days, at some point, but this was resolved - certainly on my listings anyway. However, like the main catalog you need a few sales to be higher on the search pages. I advertised (using money saved in monthly fee) until I had a few sales and then stopped. This, of course, doesn’t help with losing the reviews

There is one product I have that I left in the main catalog because of the amount of the reviews and a relatively high level of sales.

This is all my experience and that is all I can go off.

You would, however, need to leave any products that have been bought from Indonesia in the main catalog (as per the advice from TLS). You can only list products you have actually made yourself (with various other rules) in the Handmade catalog.

If you are listing these products, you may end up with your account being suspended as they definitely do random checks.
