Looking for clarity on Selling policies and seller code of conduct - Circumventing the sales process

Hello, I am working towards the launch of my first product. I plan to include some marketing card inserts and I of course want to follow Amazon’s TOS for this. There seems to be some very polarizing opinions out there about what is allowed and what is not allowed.

The one I am most specifically talking about is Circumventing the sales process. The verbiage reads:

“You may not attempt to circumvent the Amazon sales process or divert Amazon customers to another website. This means that you may not provide links or messages that prompt users to visit any external website or complete a transaction elsewhere.”

I of course do not have any intention of trying to get customers to buy from another site.. but I did want to include links to my own personal website for things like a warranty offering, and also a QR code that would lead to a video of how the product is made (the QR code would also direct to my website).

So my question is: Are external links to my own website allowed as long as I am not trying to get a customer to purchase from anywhere else outside of Amazon? (No where on our website do we also sell any products... we only link back to purchasing on Amazon)

Thank you in advance!

Hello! @Seller_5TbDpG0kqpoNC

This is Roberto, and I wanted to make sure to follow up on your post. This is a very important topic to discuss, as there are divided opinions on this and has been widely discussed here in our Forums.

Generally speaking, insert cards are allowed and can be used to thank customers for their purchases or request they leave a review based only on their experience. There is nothing explicit regarding QR codes; however, based on your example this would mean the QR will link to an external website, which is not allowed and enforced by either removing the product or removing selling privileges.

I would proceed with caution if you are planning to add insert cards in your products. There is additional information in our Seller University video below:

Product insert compliance

Selling policies and seller code of conduct

Customer product reviews policies

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Regards,

Roberto
