Royal Mail Tracked 48 (Not accdepted by Amazon)
Hi All
Why do Amazon NOT accept Royal Mail tracked 48hr (No signature or with signature) as valid tracking, we send everything tracked 48hr some with signature some without, eBay accept both as valid tracking Amazon don’t for some reason. I have had 2x A-Z claims in the last few weeks for items not received however the tracking information both stated delivered and on time, 1 was with signature & 1 without. Both claims were granted and when I queried why as I had provide valid tracking Amazon simply state that the tracking isn’t good enough? What the heck I am using the UKs biggest delivery company and Amazon are saying that their tracking isn’t good enough. I might as well send all my items via Royal Mail normal parcel and save my self a fortune on shipping costs as the tracking is worthless to them anyway.

Sell on Ebay as like you say they do accept tracking. I am fighting an a to z where the customer admists they have the parcel and Amazon keeps on asking for proof of delivery. After non sense replies from seller central, constant glitches and low sales. A customer has just been granted the full cost of the order, To be honest I would seek somewhere else to sell.

was tracking number entered at the time of dispatch? I take it you use OBA/C&D?

I’ve just had an A-Z claim refunded by Amazon that was sent standard RM48. Maybe you didn’t represent your case correctly.

Both RM and Amazon only accept a signed for service as proof of delivery in the event of a claim. RM 24/48 with a scanned confirmation of delivery is NOT accepted by either, it just reduces the claims ans doesn’t cost you anymore.

Save yourself the money and just sent it standard. My guessing is that if you consider the saving on the items you send it will be much higher than the money that you have lost through ‘lost’ packages. I would also say RM tracking is pretty shocking. I had a birthday card that showed delivered that never arrived. There are dodgy buyers out there but not all are.

Hi Neil
I just want to jump in here again as the original poster of this question…
I certainly know the difference between standard parcel 24hr/48hr and Tracked 24/48hr have been using Royal Mail services for many many years.
As I have previously explained Amazon do NOT accept tracked 24hr/48hr with signature or without signature I have had this first hand from several Amazon Customer rep’s, several parcels I have sent on the tracked service which clearly show that the items were despatched on time, with tracking numbers add at the point of despatch and the tracking number clearly showing delivered on time have been declined as valid by Amazon.
If your lucky enough to have got away with this in the passed you have been lucky.
Its about time Amazon jumped in to the 21st century with this tracking, Royal Mail are the biggest delivery service in the UK by quite a way and have a Royal Warrant, why Amazon think that they can write off their tracking service is a joke. There are loads of couriers these days that don’t require items to be signed for because of the shear volume of parcels they deliver.

YES that’s right Read my comment AGAIN - As I pointed out above ‘Only claims they will accept are SD. Recorded/Signed For and TRACKED which have a signature’
… and not 2D as the seller has learnt!!

I am not sure what the link posted by Neil is meant to be stating but just because its states to use a number of couriers such as Royal Mail it doesn’t actually state which service to use. When I was disputing the A-Z claim the reasons Amazon gave in both cases were and I quote…
The tracking doesn’t indicate where the item was delivered.
(i.e no address (just shows as delivered from such&such Delivery Office)
No signature
The items was sent on tracked 48hr (no signature service) (The same service eBay use in all its returns without an issue)
Anglers_Corner what you are saying is clearly correct.

Im a bit confused here. I use Royal mails OBA and send most items eithe r1st or send class large letter. Very rare is anything tracked. However when items do go missing i file a claim. They are not always successfull but most are and i use the bulk claim form that you can download from their website.
All you need to do is add the cost off sale and delivery details etc. I think they then write to customers to confirm. I have had some decline in the past and i just replied back asking them to investigate again. ANyway hope that helps. Ive not bothered with the 2d barcodes yets as the savings you make is minimal considering the system we would need to use to get them on or mailing lables would work out slightly more.
