Insurance cover for Prime Items

With Amazon Prime we have to use Buy Shipping so either DPD or Royal Mail tracked - both only offer £100 for loss/damage.

What if we want to sell expensive items and need more cover?

Both DPD and Royal Mail Tracked will not offer additional insurance so what happens if item is lost/damaged or customer denies receipt? I don’t understand how other sellers are offering prime on expensive items and fulfilling themselves

You basically self insure for the extra amounts.
To be fair, if your using DPD, then there are very few problems, at least in my experience.
But I certainly wouldn’t be sending something expensive via RM services.

Your only other real option here, is to use FBA, or self fulfil where you can insure them appropriately.
At the end of the day, it’s balancing the risk against the value of the goods.

Amazon’s official word as per their website is that DPD terms apply, and if you click the link extra insurance is possible.

There’s a setting in buy shipping preferences that allows you to request insurance as per this screen shot.

I have this enabled, we are never able to get any extra shipping insurance.

Seller support keep palming me off, first told me to contact DPD (who told me I’m not the account holder, its and amazon issue as they own the account) and then seller support said use another carrier that offers insurance integrated with prime. Amazon shipping offers £20 insurance, no option for extra and our items are too heavy for RM services (I think special delivery would be the only one with sufficient insurance but it’s dimensions are below that required by us in most cases)

Someone mentioned business insurance, would you like to point me towards someone who offers a policy for courier excess?

DPD are mainly good however we’ve had £1800 laptops left on doorsteps with a photo as proof on the DPD tracking. All good and well until a passer buy walks off with the laptop.
