Help, Question: Adding GTIN to products with GTIN Exemption??

We have recently started using GTIN 13 Codes.

Our previous listings are listed with GTIN exception.

Is it possible to add the GTIN codes now via flat file?

Is it worth adding them on i.e search visibility etc?
