VAT registration

Can someone help me better understand the message I received from amazon after submitting my VAT number given to me by HMRC. it says REJECTED. How is that possible. Numbers are correct and there is no room for edit on my account page.

This happened to me too when i was first VAT registered.
How long has it been since you received your VAT Certificate?
I found that the problem was that it took a week for the VAT number to be updated on HMRC’s database and Amazon did not recognize the number due the lag between their system and HMRC’s.
Give it a few more days for Amazon to get the new weeks updates and it should then be accepted by their system.
You can go to HMRC’s website and do a live check on your VAT number to see if it is on the system.
Failing that, give VAT a call and get them to check.
