Customer returns item in damaged and unsellable state (€379 item)

We have had a small amount of returns over the years with Amazon FBA, all have been marked as “customer damaged” but when we get them back, they are perfectly fine and we sell them.
Just got one back last night and it has been completely mishandled by both the seller and Amazon from what we can tell.
The products box was taped up with the product protruding out the side and all sides of the box are torn.
The Amazon box used to return the item to us had be squashed and was covered in blank DHL stickers holding it together. The product its self has scratches on the front

So we are now with a damaged product that is unsellable, paid Amazon selling fees of €21.53 plus a €15 fee to recover the inventory.

We feel that it is grossly unfair that clients can return products in this state and not face any consequences.

Amazons return policy is as follows (for the buyer)

>Our Voluntary Returns Policy
>As well as your statutory cancellation rights described above, you can return most products from the Amazon >sites to Amazon within 30 days of receipt of the products if the products are complete and are in an unused >and undamaged condition. To return an item please visit our Returns Support Centre.
>
>Please note that this returns policy doesn’t affect your statutory rights and therefore doesn’t affect your right >of cancellation as described above.

>Please note that you must return each item in the same condition in which you received it. This means that >new items must be returned new, unused and complete. Used items must not have any additional signs of >use or damage.

Contact amazon seller support, open a case and provide photos, shipping IDs etc.
We have had items reimbursed that have come back to us in a damaged or used state.

As per the first reply, take as many photos as you can :

Damage to box(es) from all angles
Of the packing slip (if there is one)
Of the label(s) on the box
Of the damage to the unit from all angles including one showing the FNSKU (FBA) label.

It would also be helpful if you have, or can find an image of the item undamaged.
