Return status Carrier picked up the package. LIE. why?

so we have been mulling over this (quietly seething with the pressure slowly increasing in our brains) for quite some time.

Why would Amazon forward such blatantly false updates for every single Return Request?

Shipping Carrier: USPS

Tracking ID 9------------------

Tracking status: Carrier picked up the package.

Although Amazon has provided the pre-paid shipping label, they immediately mark every under $100 return as Carrier picked up the package, when that is a complete fallacy.

Are they simply trying to deceive newbies into believing the return is already in USPS possession, (it is not).

to what end?

All it takes is a few more clicks to realize it was not "picked up" only that the label was created.

And just so you are aware, Auto authorized does not mean auto refunded. When and if the item is returned is when YOU process the refund. If it is never returned, then no refund. You can also "complete" the return stating that item was never received.

You realize that they do the same thing for all tracking now? I have items we ordered on Cyber Monday that were marked the same. I can run the ups tracking and see the seller only created a label but hasn't actually shipped the product yet. But it too says "carrier picked up the package"

Hi @Seller_WAZNnMBpd99sI.

Thank you for providing your feedback on the return tracking status feature. Currently, this is populated based on messaging sent by the carrier, but I understand that first scan may not be accurately being captured.

We will take your feedback and raise this to the appropriate team internally.
