A seller wants me to remove my item
Hey, I’m fairly new to Amazon and so I need help with a query.
I was looking to list an item and Amazon matched me with a product which was the exact same product as the one I have and gave me the option of listing it as that. I listed my product.
Today I received an enquiry from the seller who’s product amazon matched me with and they told me to take my item off because what I have done is illegal and if I don’t take my product off their listing then they will complain to Amazon about me.
I personally don’t think I’ve done anything wrong. My product isn’t a counterfeit, nor am I selling a branded item and their product isn’t branded either. Amazon itself gave me the option the list my product alongside the complaining person’s product. I looked around on Amazon there are many sellers selling the exact same thing too so it’s not exclusively any one company’s product.
Have I done anything wrong or is the other person wrong about their accusation of me doing something illegal?

If the item you are selling is identical to the existing listing, then you are expected to list against that listing, if however the item is branded by another seller (branding is on the product and listing) then you should not list against it, but create a new listing.
If unclear, contact Amazon SS and refer them to the message received, then follow their advice.

On what basis are they requesting you remove your yourself from the listing ?
Are they saying they are the brand owner ? I realise you say there is no brand but just trying to figure out their reasoning .

If you are a new seller, who is selling an unbranded generic item on someone else’s established listing, I would advise you to remove your offer and make your own listing. Your product needs to exactly match the listing and generic items should be listed on their own product pages.
The other seller might not be able to make Amazon remove you off the listing, but he could order from you to open an A-Z claim or leave you a negaive feedback. As a new seller, you could get suspended after receiving just 1 defect.
