How on earth do I know if I need 10 products to sell withouht being told

I've bought various products to sell. I have bought a few items of this and that, only to find out that I require 10 units to sell. How on earth do I find out this information before hand? I want to purchase more units to make it 10 units however the other issue that arises is the fact that I may not get the go ahead from Amazon.

"I've bought various products to sell. I have bought a few items of this and that"

Just out of interest, where did you buy these ? - if you bought in retail shops, then you are going to struggle as you will not have proper invoices for your items, only receipts, and this is classed as retail arbitrage, and this is not the best business model for selling on Amazon.

I am assuming that you have been asked to provide an invoice for 10 units ?

The other thing to ask is, are you registered with HMRC as self-employed (probably sole-trader) , and been sent your UTR ? This is a legal requirement to sell goods on for profit, and you need an Amazon BUSINESS seller account, not the Individual Seller Account.

I generally find the product, then create the listing before purchasing just to ensure there is no invoice or letter of authorisation requirements. If you buy from a retail store then the receipt will not be accepted by amazon. It has to be a wholesale invoice.

10 units is the standard request from Amazon when ungating a product or category.

Even with the correct invoices it is not a certainty you will be able to list the product or list in the category. Other factors such as seller performance are taken into account.

What is best to do is to have another channel where you can sell products which you purchase and can not sell on Amazon. As you progress your Amazon journey you will find that there are many issues which will force you to stop selling an item on Amazon and sell it elsewhere.
