Amazon Item Signed for By Neighbour but now missing

I have a customer who ordered an item. We sent it tracked. It was delivered and signed for by her neighbour.

Now she says she has checked with her neighbour/s and no one has it.

We have the following:

Fedex Delivery Tracking saying it was delivered and the neighbour signed for it.
The Signature of the Neighbour.
The customer acknowledges this is her neighbour.

What do I do? As I know this will become an A-Z Claim.

Just thinking out loud, you could tell the buyer you intend to raise a police report against their neighbour for theft, see what their reaction is.

If your metrics can take it I would let it become an A-Z claim you have proof it was delivered. There is a good chance you will lose but it may be Amazon Funded or it may be denied.

The only other option is to refund which I would only do if your metrics can’t take an A-Z.

I hate the facts that couriers deliver to neighbours when they can’t deliver to the actual recipient. I know they do it to save costs so they don’t have to deliver again. However it makes the big assumption that everyone gets on with all their neighbours. Most of my neighbours are great but there is one neighbour I wouldn’t want my parcel delivered to as I just don’t trust them.

Send a snail Mail to her neighbour politly point our your buyer is claiming non delivery and as such investugation will be raised accordingly

I bet you the neighbour will have “words” with buyer and item magically appears.

Are any carriers taking signatures again ? - I don’t think so, yet.

Tell them ‘you can send the courier back to your neighbours address to speak with them and confirm the delivery, and if you are claiming your neighbour has stolen it please let me know if you are willing for me to have the Police involved’.

That normally results in no reply from the scammers or it magically appears.

Hi, In all cases like this we send them a disclaimer form for them to sign, date and return . We have raised our own disclaimer which looks professional and details the item(s) not received the tracking number etc. We also then detail that in the event of fraud - untruth etc. the courier and authorities may get involved. 95% of the time we hear nothing back from them.

The courier will have a photograph of the door they delivered the order to. Prior to leaving the parcel with the neighbour the person would have asked if it was acceptable to leave a parcel for the neighbour. As far as I am aware no carrier is asking the person accepting the our to signed the handheld terminal hence the reason they are taking picture of the front door.

Put in a claim with your courier let them investigate.
