Letter of Affiliation being rejected

I am having problems creating listing variations on my own branded goods as an affiliated manufacturer has used their own GS1 barcodes, I've provided their GS1 certificate and a letter of affiliation from the director of the company but this is not enough. No matter what I do I am being told that the letter needs to call out the affiliation between brand and GS1 owner.

The letter states that the company are affiliated with us as we manufacture goods with and on behalf of and we authorise the use of GS1 prefix 00000 to which we are the owner of to be used to list these branded products.

I'm not sure how I can resolve it, this happens approximately every 12 months and normally its relatively simple but not this time. Any advice or should I just give up?

I am having the exact same issue with approximately £15k of stock purchased for the sole purpose of reselling on Amazon. Products that we have been selling for years.

Despite letters from the manufacturer/brand owner (a £200-million UK company), i am getting nowhere. In another similar case, LTD company A owns brand B, the name of the trading company is different from the brand. But LTD company A clearly shows as the trademark owner of brand B in the IPO register. Despite this, all the listings are removed...except the listings where are Amazon sell this brand directly with the exact same brand owner/barcode owner set up.

Amazon are killing my business and cash flow and despite all the evidence provided, seller support just sent me copied and pasted replies with the same information.

Buying anything to resell has become a huge risk as you are allowed to sell a product for years and years and then one day, you are no longer allow to sell it.

How is this acceptable? The conclusion is that sadly it is not worth investing time and money selling on Amazon if the tap can be turned off at any time. It's just become too risky.

I might just not be familiar on how these things work, but it doesn't make sense to me that you're using the GS1 barcodes from your manufacturer.

As I see it, there are two possible scenarios in play:

1) The manufacturer is producing white label goods, in which case you can rebrand them as your own, but then YOU need to have GS1 barcodes as their barcodes are for the White Label product, which isn't your branded product.

2) The manufacturer is producing these goods specifically and contractually to be your branded goods, in which case they should be registered as your brand on the GS1 barcode.

For example, let's say Pandora get their jewellery manufactured by a factory in China. Let's say that that factory also offers those same goods as white label. Pandora will have their own registered UPC for the products which will identify them as Pandora brand. Other customers of that factory who purchase the same product will set up their own UPC for their branded item.

This has always been a problem for us, often requiring lots of messages to seller support and weeks/months of battling.

For clarity an example would be Unilever being the brand/GS1 owner. Unilever have multiple brands, so if we were trying to list Dove soap, the brand on the product, correctly, should be Dove, but Amazon/bots view this as trying to list a Dove product with a Unilever barcode causing a clash.

Effectively you would need to list the Dove soap as Unilever soap to get around the listing issue, but doing this will just result in the listing being taken down because the brand is incorrect, as you then have Dove soap listed as Unilever soap, which it isn't.

Then you just get caught in a loop of seller support not understanding the problem.

Usually persistance, lots of product pictures and letters from manufactuers/brands does help in the end, but I would say be prepared for it to fail and be prepared to just get peppered with the same auto-replies from Seller Support.

It regularly affects companies/manufacturers who produce more than one brand and manufacturers of multiple licensed brands. We have tried for years to explain to Amazon, but as usual on here it's like banging your head against a wall, then moving products to sell elsewhere.
